I really REALLY want to say the Huntsman but I'm not sure. Since I read somewhere that even Henry isn't sure who he is, I don't know if that would be that obvious.
I'm still not an Emma fan. Not into the character. I'm rooting for everyone. Even the Queen at this point over her.
I agree Emma's character still has a way to go to feel more than a snark knight observer, and feel involved in the story to viewers. But I think she was written miles better here than in the pilot. I actually believed this was a woman who was a bounty hunter (call back to my Stephanie Plum series obsession!), and some rich lady wasn't going to scare her off easily.
Give me more of this girl, Once!
I think the show and Emma's character desperately needed the Snow/Emma scene to cement her, tonight. I love how much it devastated Emma, because here's the slap in the face that Henry is crazy, because how can this woman be her mother? AND, how can Emma seriously believe this is her mother, because she feels a huge connection! That's some good character angst.
OT, but I thought I was alone in my feelings until I saw your icon. But Rumples/everyone tbh, that man and character has chemistry with everyone. Plus what a twist to the Red/Wolf storyline!
Since I read somewhere that even Henry isn't sure who he is Yes, I thought that too, to where I was wondering if since Emma is Show's Princess, not the traditional fairytales', perhaps the sheriff is Show's Prince. I'd like it more though if they played around with different character relationships, like with your icon!
LOL Yeah, ok even I gotta admit that when I saw Ginny's hair I was all "WTF. WTF. WTF. WTF. WHY." but it's starting to grow on me because Ginny is just the cutest thing EVER. ♥
Red Riding Hood is Ruby, who lives at the B&B with Granny and works at her diner.
Sleeping Beauty has only been mentioned in passing but I would love to see her and if they are pulling tDisneysney" Princesses I want my Belle damn it! I would love to see some Beauty and the Beast action. I would find it hilarious if AuroSleepingeing) was an insomniac in Storybrooke. That would amuse me to no end.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who's still a little confused. I think I've figured out that the innkeeper is Granny, and the girl with the red hair streaks is Red Riding Hood, but I can't figure out the Big, Bad Wolf or anybody else. :(
Tonight was amazing! And I feel like The Sheriff almost has to be the huntsman. He's still working for The Queen, he's still basically doing her bidding, etc.
I'm rooting for basically everybody, I guess. Except for Regina/The Queen obviously. She almost killed a unicorn. That is NOT okay! For the first time I was Team Maleficent, I couldn't believe it. (But to be fair, I wasn't allowed to watch the animated Sleeping Beauty when I was a kid so my knowledge of her came from Faerie Tale Theatre.)
Maleficent is my favorite villain...EVER. You can see how much she was the influence for Narissa in Enchanted. She turns into a dragon when upset. My kinda bloodshed.
And the fact it's like Fairy Taled True Blood Pam. It works so well. I'm giddy over this. Same snark.
I'm surprised I liked Snow/Prince at all given how cliched they are BUT they were so awesome in the pilot I can't help it! They were so perfect even someone like me who can't hate them!
And no, sorry.
My ships are Ruby/Gold, Ruby/Archie, Sheriff/Emma (because I have a feeling thats gonna be the shows OTP besides Snow/Prince), Sheriff/Regina,
I get get behind some dark Regina/Gold, but in a hate-@#$&ing kind of way, not a romantic thing. The show appears to be going Sheriff/Emma, which I don't mind. Really, I love Ruby/Gold, and Archie/somebody sweet who will be nice to him.
I want more characters! I want Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella, etc. Though, there you do run into the whole "how many Prince Charmings" can one land have, thing. As they have clearly set Snow/Charming up as a OTP kind of thing, I can't believe they'd go the "Prince Charming is a philandering bastard" route (plus, they're already getting enough flack for ripping off Fables).
We are getting Cinderella in episode 4. She's trying to escape Gold (and is supposed to be set up as BFFs with Mary/Snow)
And if they did the "Charming is the man slut" its also a call back to "into the woods" where the Princes (brothers) one married Cinderella, the other to Rapunzel and they quickly became bored and went to find someone else to perk their interest and that was Snow White and Sleeping Beauty because they were so unattainable as Cindy and Rapunzel had been.
Emma, cutting down part of the apple tree, was awesome!
The food geek in me had to snicker about Regina's big speech about honeycrisp apples in the face of visuals of red delicious apples in the basket. Bad detail there! :P
My many thoughts, in list form because orderliness is fun.
-Seeing Emma chop down the apple tree in the promos, I reasonably assumed that this was to eliminate some source of Regina's power o something, only no. It turns out that she took a chainsaw to the Mayor's beloved childhood apple tree just to taunt her. I love you, Emma. -My hackles were definitely up at the appearance of the hot cocoa. "I'm not here to flirt, I'm here to do a job." YES. YOU TELL HIM. -Oh my god, Robert Carlyle is turning into a living "Oh Snap" moment. EQ got the Big Bad Curse from Rumpelstiltskin? OH SNAP. Pretty much everything he said and did in the final scene? OH SNAP. -I'll take that as support for the Trickster theory. Rumps is clearly playing both sides to his advantage, and look how many fucks he doesn't give. -When Archie just handed over Henry's file I literally shouted, "You are the worst psychiatrist ever!" at my TV. I am glad it turned out to be a nasty plot from Regina and not just a confidentiality violation. -For a while Henry seemed to teeter on the brink of 'Precocious Television Child' territory, but I really liked how in this episode he seemed to handle things the way a typical kid would. He was upset that Emma didn't automatically believe him even though his story was nuts, he went all sullen and silent instead of going over-the-top dramatic, and Operation Cobra? Bless his little heart. -Also liked how Emma and Regina's Battle Royale is so blatant and frank. None of this typical sneaky, catfighty, 'frenemy' bullshit that most television shows seem to think is the only acceptable way for women to display rivalry. My fandom doesn't use subtle social sabotage, my fandom uses a chainsaw! -A preference for cinnamon with your cocoa is a genetic trait, apparently? -Maleficent has a miniature black unicorn for a pet. HELL YES.

It turns out that she took a chainsaw to the Mayor's beloved childhood apple tree just to taunt her. So did I! What she actually did was SO MUCH MORE BAD ASS, especially the way you put it. JUST TO TAUNT HER AND HAVE A LEAD IN FOR "YOUR MOVE."
Rumples is getting all my love right now, because he is hitting all of my buttons for "What Eso Likes Most About Fairy Tales (not including mermaids, princesses, or unicorns)." He seems to be the *embodiment* of magic, because he understands it so well. He knows all the back doors and all the plot holes and is trolling everyone JUST BECAUSE. That is so amazing.
I agree your thoughts re:Henry. Along with everyone else, he really benefited from this second episode.
"My fandom uses a chainsaw" needs to be our meme.
re: maleficent. That kind of ridiculousness was just so random and I loved every second of it.
The image of Emma using regina's own chainsaw never occurred to me, but now it's my own personal fanon.
I'm so glad people are loving Snow White; she has a tendency to get a lot of hate from fairy tale lovers. One of my favorite scenes in this show is Snow naively believing kissing charming would save him, bring him back from the dead, because that's what happened to her. it was a lovely character moment.
