Episode Discussion 2x04: The Crocodile
Belle's disgust over Mr. Gold's continuing thirst for power comes to a head, and she threatens to leave him if he can't change his evil ways; the dwarves pick up their axes and try to find fairy dust in the Storybrooke mine; and a reunion with an old acquaintance could prove to be Belle's undoing. Meanwhile, back in the fairytale land that was, Rumplestiltskin attempts to save his wife, Milah, from being kidnapped by a band of cutthroat pirates.
P.S. Phew! Barely made it. Sorry for the delay. Wal-Mart had no less than 15 people in all 5/600 of its lines.
P.P.S. You all know it's really paining me to not use the picture I want up here. *meeps!!!*

Date: 2012-10-22 11:01 am (UTC)I must be in the minority who liked Mila and was sorry to see her die so soon. I don't think True Love was any excuse for the way she behaved with her family but it sure made her an interesting character. She dreamt of a life of adventure and instead was lumbered with a cowardly husband and a kid she may not have wanted. Not everybody is tailored for parenthood, but when a woman doesn't give 110% for her child that makes her a monster. How fair is that? A child would not have been safe on a pirate ship, she knew this. She made a choice: to live the life *she* wanted, and I think it took guts.
So yeah, I'm sorry she was killed off so soon. She would have been a great vessel to explore the nature of sacrifice vs selfish motives.
I'm glad Belle gets a chance to gain some independence, and I like that Rumple is really trying to become a better person. I think pure evil gets tedious after a while. It lacks layers. I'm also glad that Regina is torn by her affection towards Henry, though I would hate for her to become a total 'good guy'.
Hook is a bit too pretty boy for my taste. I would have liked him older and grittier. He looks like a Halloween pirate with too much mascara.

Date: 2012-10-23 02:25 am (UTC)(though for Milah to be a vehicle for that sort of exploration - an idea I would support - we'd have to have more than just the one flashback (and-or have Milah still be alive in the Curse/postCurse world))
