Regina's hat! I apologize that I was immediately reminded of Wicked - minus the green skin. Hence the little fansquee.

And why did she want the children for herself? There is some reasoning behind this. Can she NOT have children? Is that her secret that Snow told?

And Nameless. Emma acted like she might have recognized him. Did she lie about Henry's father just to protect the kid? Or did Henry's dad "fake" his own death?

Is there supposed to be significance to the number 23 - it was on the bike's plate. Custom kind of stuff. Makes me think the writers put things like that there on purpose for us to find.

I haven't seen enough LOST to know these things.

Just some fandom questions. Any theories?

Hi! Your HTML seems a bit borked, and can you definitely want to put this behind a LJ-cut for those who haven't seen it yet? Thanks.

The number probably has something to do with LOST or the 23 inigma...
(FYI: If you've not seen the movie "The Number 23" it's stunning. But sure you can see rated R movies ;))

OOH. I've seen a lot of theories about the secret that ruined her life, that's a new and interesting one...I mean, having an heir is prob super important, right? The monarchy wants to keep the line of succession going strong, blah blah blah? I know Snow's around, but it might be a patriarchal thing where she wouldn't be accepted 'coz the kingdom needs a king to rule over it.

So her father remarries in order to produce an heir, only *ohnoes* the Queen can't bear his heir, so...he plans to throw her aside? Maybe take another wife? (if Henry V or whatever could have all those wives, it's plausible, right?) And so Regina has him killed, because she can't deal with being rejected. And then she wants Snow to suffer for ruining everything when it was going so well for her.

STOP BEING SO THOUGHT-PROVOKING. I wish I could come up with neat theories, too, but ah well, I'll embrace my role as the person who goes 'ooh' and 'ahh' in admiration. I'm thinking of Leopold as a possible Uther, prejudiced against magic, and maybe Snow's revelation turned him against Regina because he looked down on magic-users.

(although...I could see Snow slipping up with Regina being infertile, but if there is an anti-magic attitude in the kingdom and she's all 'lol, stepmama's a witch', that's...downright malicious, and I don't see it being IC for her?)

I don't think she'd be making deals with Rumpelstiltskin if he took her child, that'd've utterly wrecked her, imo, whether out of love for the child OR because it'd ruin her relationship with the King (it might be an alternate take on how Cinderella and Thomas COULD'VE gone if he'd held a grudge against her for making a deal that got their child threatened). She's wary and snide with Rumpelstiltskin/Gold, but not...completely hateful, which I think she would be if her child had been taken.

IA, she wasn't keen on killing Leopold, it was necessary, but she didn't revel in the idea, not like when it came to Snow. If he were throwing her aside for another bride who could bear him a child, that might work, imo.

it makes sense why she wants such bold children. She gets the best of both worlds - a daughter to confide in, and a son for an heir

*nodnod* IA. And damn, I know Regina's not that great a person, but it's sad to me that she finally got a son and he completely hates her. *sigh*

What ended up being most important for me was looking for the X-files reference. I think my mum got it:

He was a mechanic. He worked with Black Oil. O.O

I think Regina was honestly impressed with the little girl, and someone with that much power tends to want a protege to carry on the legacy. She also wanted them because she craves the loyalty they show their father - basically exactly what she said. Possession, need, lack.

I'm concerned that the stranger is too obviously a candidate for Henry's father, and the writers (and actress) indicated it would be more subtle than that. Unless they were lying...

However, I DO think that Henry's dad liked pumpkin pie. And Emma probably did work in a 24 hour diner at some point. Even for an expert liar like herself, it's probable that the little details are the honest truth.

I assumed that Regina's desire for spirited children was more primal than that. She feels rejected and unloved, for whatever reason. She only knows how to BUY people's "love" or scare it out of them. So that's why she offered them a place with her. I don't think that Regina really understands what love is.

As far as the Unknown guy, I don't think he's Henry's dad. There wasn't really any acknowledgment between him or Emma. I'm pretty sure the 23 was a reference to "everything in life is connected to the number 23" but I think it may just be implying that the man is directly connected to events in ways that we'll have to find out later.

Since the writers are former Lost writers and they've put Lost "easter eggs" into every episode so far, I would say that the #23 is an homage to one of the Lost numbers (which were 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42). Specifically, 23 was linked to Jack Sheppard and it was his seat number on Oceanic flight 815 :-)

Exactly. So this got me thinking that the Stranger could potentially be a very important character in the show.

was wondering, Regina knows no one can leave Storybrook so why did she order Emma to take the twins to Boston? did Regina know that Emma's car was going to brake down and Emma would call the kids Dad to come and fix it, knowing that once he saw his kids he would want them? if so then why did she do it?
