Mr. Gold, Belle, Elsa, Emma and Hook enter the barn of Zelena's farmhouse to get more information of how Elsa got into the urn and where Anna is. Mr. Gold asks Belle to give him the dagger, which is the fake one despite what everyone believes, and picks up some dirt from the ground. Mr. Gold explains that magic can change forms but it can never be completely destroyed and that this dirt can still neutralize any magic practitioner just like it did before. After they leave, Elsa comments that they still have nothing, but Emma encourages her, assuring her that they will find her sister

In a deleted scene from Heroes and Villains, while in the diner, Anna looks at the Twinkie on the table and asks what it is. Elsa remarks that it's "their version of a cake" and Anna jokingly says that it's a magic cake. Kristoff takes a bite of it and likes it, but also says that they need to get back to Arendelle. Emma comes in and says that she has just spoken to Anton and informs the group that unfortunately, Storybrooke does not have an ideal climate at the moment and there will be no magic beans until spring. Anna becomes upset and worried due to Hans' current rule over Arendelle. Emma explains that they're trying, but portals are hard to come by.

In a deleted scene from Smash The Mirror, at the Blanchard loft, Mary Margaret notices Elsa with snow floating around her. She asks if that means she's upset and if she's worried about Emma. Elsa makes the snow disappear, apologizing that the floor is wet. Mary Margaret says that she seems very focused on her gloves. Elsa says that her parents gave them to her so they would conceal her magic, but Snow says that she thinks they didn't work. Elsa agrees and says that her sister's love helped. Mary Margaret asks if she has ever tried taking it all the way, like Emma did, but Elsa says that she wanted to, but she couldn't. She adds that Emma is lucky to have parents like them. Mary Margaret says that she doesn't know what Elsa's parents did or didn't do but all parents make mistakes. She then asks what Elsa would tell Emma, since she understands her more than anyone at the moment. Elsa says that she doesn't know if she would stop her or join her.

In The Snow Queen, the language in the spell book that Emma and Elsa are reading is not actually Elvish. It contains an excerpt from The Book of Lost Tales by J. R. R. Tolkien, written in Anglo-Saxon Futhorc Runes. The excerpt is from the chapter about "The Tale of Tinúviel". The text transliterates as:
Then was there much eagerness alight and
Eriol told them of his first
wanderings about the western havens, of
the comrades he made and the
ports he knew, of how he was one time
wrecked upon far western islands and
there upon a lonely eyot found an [sic]
ancient mariner who dwelt for ever solitary
in a cabin on the shore that he had fashioned [sic] of the timbers of his boat.
More wise was he, said Eriol, in all matters
of the sea than any other I have
met, and much of wizardry was there in
his lore. Strange things he told me, of
regions far beyond the western sea, of
the magic isles, and that most lonely
one that lies beyond. Once long ago he
said he had sighted it glimmering
afar off, and after had he sought it
many a day in vain.

Much of the text is repeated on both pages.

Belle's translation (seen upside-down) reads:
[illegible]
of [illegible word] being
With both hands hold the candle
And then use your magic to light it
And then, when you blow on it
Vines of fire will issue forth
From the candle
And form a serpentine bond
Tendrils that will bind
The [obscured] of your intent

In Breaking Glass, Elsa's purple cape was used in this episode for technical reasons because her scenes were filmed on a green background screen, and because she wore a blue dress, which is too similar of a color to the background screen, that would have made her body completely invisible on the special-effects camera.

In White Out, the show producers had planned on filming the ice cave scenes in a meat locker, in order to capture the characters' breath on screen. The idea was scrapped when they realized that viewers wouldn't see Elsa's breath since she is not affected by the cold. Instead, the scene was shot inside a studio, where the temperature was 110 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celsius). While Jennifer Morrison pretended to be freezing and shivering, she was actually sweating through her T-shirt.

In There’s No Place Like Home, in order to keep the ending scene with Elsa a secret, Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis scripted an alternate ending, so that very few people knew about Elsa's appearance in the season finale. Only the show creators and a small crew that filmed the end scene, knew about the secret ending. The scripted ending featured the Sorcerer's hat coming out of the urn instead of Elsa.

The background music that plays when Ingrid sacrifices herself would be used again when Henry and Jacinda are about to kiss in the Season Seven episode "Flower Child".

The lantern Elsa is using to search through the Arendelle castle is the same prop Snow White is using in "The Queen Is Dead". It is also the same prop Mary Margaret and Emma are using in the episode "Queen of Hearts".

The language which Belle translates for Emma in the episode "The Snow Queen" is Elvish. The roots of incantations that Regina showed to Emma in "The Jolly Roger" were also Elvish.
