Evil Queen Spoilers

Look out Storybrooke! The Evil Queen’s mother is coming to town and it looks like where Regina is concerned, this evil apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

A recent casting call for episode 18, entitled ‘Stable Boy,’ calls for Cora, a woman in her late 40s to early 60s, to play the Evil Queen’s manipulative and imposing mother.

[DANIEL] Mid 20s, a handsome stable boy in Fairy Tale Land who tends to horses at the royal manor. He’s a young romantic who believes that love can make anything possible, even breaking through the barriers of his social station. Guest star.

[YOUNG SNOW] 12 to 14 years old to PLAY 12, a young and innocent princess, she sees the world through a prism where she believes everyone is capable of the same kindness she and her benevolent father bestow on their kingdom. Guest star

Ok, now that I've actually read everything, I think the Evil Queen wants the stable boy, the stable boy wants the Evil Queen. Happy times ensue, but they need to keep it a secret because of the difference in social status. Young Snow spills the beans and Mommy Dearest gets rid of stable boy. (Possibly kills him.)

Could very well be him. He was cast for 'later in the season', right? So that fits. And he fits the age bracket, too.

Okay, what I love about this theory is that it makes the Evil Queen's hatred of Snow make sense, while keeping the 'betrayal' in-character; I had a hard time seeing Snow revealing a secret that would have such tragic consequences on purpose, but if she's a naive young girl who's ridiculously idealistic because she's never been faced with the darker, grittier aspects of life...yeah, I can see her innocently spilling the beans because she's not aware of how big a deal it is.

At the same time, the Evil Queen (zomg, can we learn her name soon?) isn't going to let her mistake go; from her pov, Snow got someone she loved killed, it doesn't matter that it wasn't on purpose. This is a wound that could conceivably fester and turn into a venemous hatred she's gonna nurture for years while she schemes to ruin Snow's life.

I really hope the show takes that path. With some of its decisions lately, I'm wary of their choices; this seems like the most probable and in-character storyline, I'm crossing my fingers that's how it goes onscreen.

The only thing I can see that could be different is that they didn't so much keep their relationship a secret as the stable boy's identity. Maybe they pretended that he was a prince or at least someone with enough status so he could marry Regina (<- we have her name!!). She tells Snow the truth and the rest remains as I said above.

I will be very interested to finally see a (hopefully) softer side to Regina's (same name in both realities) character. So far they have not shown her to have any redeeming qualities (unless, of course, she actually does love young Henry in her own way). It will also be interesting to finally learn more about what Snow did that set the Queen against her.
