• I cheated. I've decided to rotate the header every week (Sunday to Sunday). *sheepish grin* I got too stressed choosing one because they were all SO beautiful. This week's is made byspg_spn_girls and I'm gonna leave it up until next Sunday when I'll choose a new header. I've also decided to let the header submissions be forever and ever, so if anyone still wants to submit a header to add to the rotation, the header entry will always be open. Thank you to everyone who contributed!
• As some of you may have noticed, the tags have been reworked. I know I say it later in this post, but I want to draw everyone's attention to one particular tag: actor/actress: guest stars/future roles. This is the tag to use for future characters/guest stars. In my opinion, these roles are spoilers of the highest kind. I elaborate more in the rules, so please be sure to read that and take all future posts with this topic into consideration.
• The rules have been tweaked a bit. Most are exactly the same, but there are a few changes that everyone needs to read. *cough*Guest stars*cough*
1. Bashing. DO NOT BASH CHARACTERS OR ACTORS OR ANYONE INVOLVED IN THE SHOW OR MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY. This rule goes first because it is the most important. Discussion of a character is one thing, bashing is an automatic bye-bye. I will not tolerate even one chance here.
2. Tagging. Tag your entries. Do not post an entry without a tag. If you're not sure which tag to use, contact a mod:jadestrick, annaxbanana, lucyskyx or hughville.
3. LJ-cuts. Use LJ cuts. If you don't know how to do an LJ-cut, please read the LJ FAQ.
4. Fanfiction. For fanfiction postings, please remember to include the following: title, rating, pairings/characters, warnings/spoilers and a summary.
5. Spoilers. EVERYTHING is considered a spoiler until a week after it airs in the U.S. (That means Sunday to Sunday.) Here is what is considered a spoiler (and all of these pertain to the week long period after an episode airs and any future episodes):
• Plots
• Character Deaths
• Speculation
• Guest Stars - This is a BIG rule. One of the things about this show that makes it so much fun is speculating who's who, but for MANY people, even listing news about a future guest star or character IS A SPOILER. Please put any posts about these characters under a cut and absolutely NO icons outside of a cut with these characters in them. Also, the appropriate tag for this type of post is actor/actress: guest stars/future roles. When the time comes that the episode has aired with the new character, I will edit the tags appropriately. Until then, please use the spoiler warning.
6. Pictures. Please do not post pictures larger than 500 pixels outside on an LJ-cut. It screws with the layout like whoa.
7. Trolling. You troll, you're out.

If we justify are we allowed to be critical of a character? It's just I'm sure we all dislike a character's actions at some point, and I want to be able to discuss both sides without feeling I'm stepping on people's toes & going against the rules.

Date: 2012-01-26 01:58 am (UTC)Here are some examples that drove me from the TWoP OUAT forum: Someone repeatedly saying JM has a "muppet mouth," and that she walks funny. (IDK ??) Someone repeatedly calling Henry a "sociopath" and Emma an "interloper," saying she butts in to Regina's business, and a few others who just find Emma "annoying," but couldn't put good reasons as to why. (And seriously, the whole thrust of the show is that Emma is going to break the curse. If that already bugs someone, I'd think they'd just stop watching. But maybe earth logic doesn't apply.)
When I saw some of that same stuff leak into this community, I fled. It goes beyond, "I didn't like Character X's actions in this instance," and in some cases it smacks of sexism.
The post that made me leave here was someone asking why people like Emma, and then proceeding to trash her. No one, IMO, should be required to defend why they like a character to any other member, and posts like that are just asking for wank. There was nothing intelligent about it.
That was followed up with a post about how pathetic Ella was in taking Rumple's deal, and there was a whole lot of sexist BS in that post too.
You couldn't even accidentally cross that line, because you're smart and sensible. ♥
(Clearly I have feelings on this issue. :P)
