A theory about Prince Charming's ring

This is just an idle thought I had when I was re-watching the ring scenes...what do you think of the theory?


Prince Charming's mother told him that true love follows the ring, that she loved (came to love?) his father, and that Charming would have love with his bride when he gave the ring to her. by "follows", I assume she meant that if Charming gave his bride the ring, they'd come to love one another, but the ring wouldn't have caused it.

But what if the ring is causing/encouraging the love? (when taken out of its holder/purse, it magnifies any feelings of attraction between the two people closest to it - if there are no feelings of attraction, maybe it shifts other feelings to being attraction)

Charming didn't show the ring to his affianced, he showed it to Snow White (who til then was perfectly happy to club him and rob him) - who put it on, and ended up marrying him.

Hmm, that would be interesting, especially if Rumpels was involved somewhere in there. I now wish the show would go that route, but it's likely too subversive for them :\

I still kinda like the notion that the ring follows true love, and his mum had it (understandably) backwards.

Rumplestiltskin is probably somebody's ancestor (Snow White's?)...we never found out how long ago the Ogre Wars were.
