Re: RumBelle: Tears and Schemes (Soft R/M)
Date: 2014-11-21 06:20 am (UTC)But, in truth, the way she feels isn't too far from how she felt during her first nights in his castle. She knows he's dark, but she doesn't know how badly. She knows she can't trust him. She knows she's lying to him, and she doesn't know when those lies will stop, or where. She's terrified that they won't stop until there's nothing she can do to save him.
He pulls her against him, and she pretends to go willingly. He kisses her, and she puts on her normal facade, acting as though nothing is wrong, acting as though she still loves him and trusts him as greatly as that first night on which she happily gave herself to him for the first time. He was her first; he will be her last. Whatever happens, Rumplestiltskin will always be the one great and True love of her life.
Yet when they are done, when she lays still in his arms and he pretends to sleep, silent tears track down Belle's face. In the dark night, her heart isn't the only one that hurts. Rumplestiltskin hopes that all he's doing won't cost him his greatest prize, but he can't tell her, not yet. She won't understand. He's got to find a way to bring his plan to fruition without her ever finding out, without breaking her heart, without losing her and breaking his again too. He pretends to sleep, but all the while he schemes, and all the while, she cries.
The End
