Date: 2014-10-15 02:44 pm (UTC)Rumplestiltskin in One More Plan, rated PG/K+
Date: 2014-10-23 02:38 am (UTC)He turns the magician's hat over in his hands, listening to the cries of the souls trapped therein. It is a good thing Belle can not see him now. She would not understand this. Her heart would be broken by their suffering, and she would beg him to release them. Rumplestiltskin runs a tired hand over his face. He can not do that, even if their screams and Belle's pleas sometimes haunt his dreams. He must have them, and there will be others, too. He must have all their magic for this one, last plan to succeed.
They said it could not be done, but then there's been many things said over the centuries about the limitations of both the Dark One and magic itself. He has seen many of them broken, and he will see many more yet. The curse wasn't the answer. He learned that with Bae's death. He'd thought then he was out of time, but now he has been given one last chance to save his son.
He will not squander his opportunity. He has all the power of the Dark One at his command, the most powerful magic in all the lands with the True Love he shares with Belle, and that of Charming and Snow's into which he's quite certain he can find a way to tap again and again however many times he may need it, and now he will have the most powerful magic yet. It's a pity he destroyed Zelena before he found this hat again; her magic would have made a nice addition to the magic already held within.
Belle's not going to understand, he thinks yet again for only the hundredth time today. This may finally be enough to make her want to turn from him. He was afraid when he lied to her about the dagger, afraid when she lost her knowledge of who she is, afraid when he killed Zelena . . . There have been so many times he has been afraid of losing her, but this is one chance he absolutely must take.
If she loves him, as she says every day she does, if she truly loves him, she will come to understand. This magic is the most powerful he's ever come across, the most powerful any one has come across. Finally, with this magic and those he has yet to collect, he will be able to break the same rules he and Zelena tried so hard before to break. He'll be able to turn back time. He'll be able to raise the dead. He'll be able to have his son back.
He sets the cap back down onto the table before him and leans back in his chair, still pondering. He'll have Bae back, and his boy won't remember what happened. No one will. And although Belle may hate him from the time she learns of his deceit and his best plan yet, once her memories of what has happened have been taken, she'll love him again. He'll have them both, his son and his True Love, and they will love him. They will love him, accept him, honor him, forgive him for no one will be able to stand against him, and he will have his true and complete happy ending at last.
The corners of his lips curve up into an impish smile. His giggles quickly fill his shop and drift on the air to the street beyond, but if any one hears him, they dare not make a sign. The Dark One has a plan again, and this time, no one will stop him.
The End
