Emma Swan
Day One: Favourite lead female character
Emma Swan is a girl who was born in a fairy tale land, and thanks to am unfortunate circumstance do to an evil queen her parents had to send her to a new world alone, when on her 28th birthday she will come back to then and save them from a dreaded curse which brought a whole kingdom to our world without their memories of who they are truly.
Emma is someone that on a show about fairy tales, especially one produced by Disney, is surprisingly real, and more importantly realistic. She made mistakes when she was younger, ended up pregnant and in jail at 17 and have the kid up for adoption and turned her life around to become a bailbonds person. It is that son of hers who eventually finds her and brings her back to Storybrooke to find her family and break the curse.
Why is she my favorite female character? Well she has all of the things about her that a young girl or woman can hope to look up to. She's strong, able to take down a guy in a minidress and heels no less which is the first thing we see her do, she's smart, and she cares so deeply. She ends up rescuing the town, not only fairytale wise but a long the way learns more about herself and the people she cares about. She doesn't need a man, but when she finds one that she does care for we actually see the relationship grow instead of just being the product of fairy tale archetype or because pixie dust said it was meant to be (don't even get me started on that).
As someone who was in foster and adopted, and whose mother found her as an adult, I appreciated the realness that was given in regards to her actions toward her parents when they finally realized who they were. She had many abandonment issues thanks to them, as well as an ex, and it didn't matter how good the excuse was it didn't change the fact that she had been alone most of her life and that is a hard fact to ignore.
She's a strongly written character with a great story. A true modern day fairy tale. If you haven't checked out "Once upon a time" yet you really should, if for no other reason than this character. She is truly incredible.
My favorite quote so far from her I think best describes it and it's one that everyone should know about themselves:
People are gonna tell you who you are your whole life. You just gotta punch back and say, "No, this is who I am". You want people to look at you differently? Make them! You want to change things, you're gonna have to go out there and change them yourself, because there are no fairy godmothers in this world.

Re: Owner post...
Date: 2014-10-14 03:28 am (UTC)I'm sorry if I came across snippy earlier, as
A) it was in the post somehow and even another mod wasn't able to fix in editing
B) it is once related
C) didn't realize length was an issue.
As the photo was through a link I'm not sure how to resize I would appreciate if you or one of the admins could help with the resizing. I believe I was able to delete the wrong encoded post, I had been told to repost through amessage with casrin and they would delete the original but perhap I was mistaken
If you would like to change anything about the post please let me know how to fix
Thanks

Date: 2014-10-14 03:45 am (UTC)I do see that it is OUaT related and as I said, I do like it.
I'll tag it for you since LJ is being temperamental. It happens.
I just learned how to resize photos myself.
How to resize a photo. (http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000055.htm) (See? I made a mistake! :D)
Does that make sense? You can put any size in. I do two pics side by side and resize them both to 200. Then they fit.
I do see that

Re: Owner post...
Date: 2014-10-14 03:55 am (UTC)When the Owner of the community told you that you should have read the rules first, it's because you broke a few rules with that post. As the owner said it's a bit long, she also ask people to add a title (you had it in your first post), you have not tags (but she'll take care of it since you cannot edit it) and your image is way too large. The rules mentions that any image bigger than 500x500 pixels should be placed under an lj-cut.
So, all you have to do is add a title, and put everything under an lj-cut if you cannot figure out how to display your image in its original small size, even with me pointing out where is the error in your code.
Re: Owner post...
Date: 2014-10-14 04:04 am (UTC)I really am trying to fix it and when I posted the new post it did tell me I couldn't tag... I'm really trying
And not having used links before I really didn't know about the size issue... The image just came out how the link was saved in the set up I guess
Re: Owner post...
Date: 2014-10-14 04:07 am (UTC)So even if you cannot resize the image it's okay now that it's under an lj-cut.
