Happy Ending (PG/K+)
Date: 2014-08-10 05:02 pm (UTC)"It's going to be okay," Robin whispers, stroking her hair.
"Robin, there is not a single person in this place who I have not attempted to kill, tortured, threatened, or otherwise harmed!"
Gently, he clasps her hands and raises them to his lips. "Do you trust me, my Queen?"
She can not help but to smile. "With all my heart," she assures him.
"Then let me down this honor for us." He kisses her hands, then releases her and raises his glass. He taps a spoon against it to draw the attention of all those gathered in Granny's diner that night, and once he has it, he begins to speak.
"I thought I knew once before what love was. When I lost what I thought was love, I thought I could not go on, but I had to for the sake of my son. It took many years, but I was rewarded with something greater, more powerful, and wonderful than I'd ever dreamed possible. I have now learned what real True Love is and am honored to have been given our Queen's heart." He grins at the whispers. "Aye, in more ways than one."
"Here, here!" Hook calls, laughing and waving his own glass. The Pirate has had too much to drink, but Robin doesn't care, not on this night. He waits until Emma has quieted him before continuing.
"Now I am to be blessed with a second honor, one almost as great as the first for our wonderful Queen -- " He hears a few whispers of how she is not their Queen but ignores them. " -- has agreed to marry me."
The negative whispers are lost in the shouts of celebration, and before Regina even knows what is happening, Mary Margaret, Snow White, or whatever she is calling herself this night has grabbed her and is hugging her tightly. Shock keeps her still for a moment, but then slowly, she returns the hug. She remembers a time before she was forced to marry Snow's father and before Snow betrayed her, and in that moment, she feels almost like she is being hugged by that sweet, little girl again. Only Snow is no child any longer. She is a grown woman with every reason to hate her but who is smiling and laughing in her joy that is being caused by Regina's own happiness.
"I'm so happy for you!" Snow exclaims, but before she can answer her, Regina is tackled again, this time by Tinker Bell.
"I told you," the Fairy says joyously, "you could still have True Love!"
"You were right," Regina admits, for once not at all ashamed or angry to have to admit that she was the one in the wrong. She is surrounded by the smiling faces of people almost as eager as Snow and Tinker Bell to tell her how happy they are for her, and it is a while before Robin pulls her once more to the side.
"I told you," he speaks, beaming happily. "Regina, you are no longer the person you were when you fought against these people. They have accepted that you have changed. They're happy for you. They're your friends."
He raises each of her hands again to his lips and kisses them before pulling her closer. "You're no longer a villain, my Queen. You're going to get your happy ending, and you deserve it more than any other lady I have ever known."
Regina smiles, her dark eyes alight with joy as they look up into his. "You are wrong about one thing, my thief."
"Only one?" he teases, still grinning.
Her palm strokes his face, then cups his cheek. Her breath washes over his smiling lips as she tells him, "I already have my happy ending," and then she kisses him. She knows her words have never been truer. He is more than her True Love. He is her happy ending for none of this could have happened if he hadn't loved when she had been unlovable. She can feel Henry and Roland nearby and knows their children are nearly as happy for them as they are. She leans in closer to Robin and deepens their kiss of True Love. She has everything she could ever want. She has her happy ending, and no one is ever going to take it, or any of them, away from her again.
