1. What did you think of the OUAT take on the Jack and the Giant Killer story?

2. Was Anton too obsessed with humans?

3. What did you think when David had to rapidly explain to Anton and to Mary Margaret that it wasn't him, but Prince James, who had killed Anton's family?

4. Emma and Anton in the treasure room: what did you feel about their interaction?

5. If you were to pair him up with someone in Storybrooke for a relationship, who would it be?

1. I was very surprised! First, that Jack was a girl, and then that she got killed. It's so far from the legend of "Jack the Giant Slayer" that it would have been better to use a random name without bringing the name Jack at all, as if it was just a story about Giants with magic beans, etc.

4. I liked that scene, she was clever, and I was surprised that she ended up making a deal with the Giant.

They've made so many radical changes to the fairytales that "Once Upon a Time" seems like a huge reboot of our fairy tales, and in that context I'm content with the changes. I think Anton's interest in humans was natural; people who do not fit into their own culture are often interested in other cultures. I don't think Anton would make a logical romantic pairing with any of the other present characters; I like Anton and most of the women, but that doesn't make them suitable mates. I suppose Red Riding Hood, just because he's so durable.

Oh, a chance to talk about Anton! I'll try not to write a book.

1. On first watch, when Jack leaned over and gave Anton a kiss, and he just beamed, I jumped up and down on the couch yelling "Honey trap! Honey trap!" I was right.

Seriously, though, I liked the twist. It reminded me of modern retellings like Wicked, which go for the POV of the "bad guy," and turn it around. OUAT doesn't disappoint. We see Anton and his clan as the last of a people vanquished by exploitation and military conquest, rather than the evil ogres of lore.

2. No, Anton isn't unduly fascinated. It's understandable. He was the youngest kid, and "different" from the rest of the gang: very much like Ariel in The Little Mermaid movie. Also, his fascination was his tragic flaw: the opening through which his people met their doom.

3. Um, Charming had a lot of 'splainin' to do afterwards, I bet. I'd love to have been a fly on the wall in *that* conversation.

4. ETA: Deleted: I was thinking of another scene. Oopsie.

4a. I know you didn't ask this, but does it seem strange that Emma doesn't see Anton, or even know that he's been "shrunk," until "Lacey?" That's at least two weeks since she's returned from NY, maybe more (the timeline isn't hard on dates.) I would have thought Charming, Snow, *someone* would have told her that Anton was living among them, permanently human-sized. But when she shows up in the field in "Lacey," she obviously doesn't know.

5. I had to make up an OC for him, for that very reason. There really wasn't anyone suitable.

In my head canon, he did spend at least the night with the cute blonde musician in the pub, though ... ;-)
