Granny had many regrets in her life the greatest being keeping the truth from Ruby.

She had learned to cope with her regrets but that's it.

Once the curse was lifted and everyone remembered, Ruby asked for some time to talk.

First time that girl wanted to sit down and talk to her since she was a young pup.

They sat down after closing.

Looking across the table at her granddaughter, she felt nothing but love and could see in Ruby’s eyes that love was returned ten fold.

They didn’t say anything.

They didn’t need to.

They had true love.

An Arrow in the Heart

Characters: Regina/Robin (Outlaw Queen)
Rating: PG

Regina looked in the mirror and put on her lipstick. She pushed back her hair and took a deep breath.

“It was all in my imagination. What the hell does that damn fairy know about true love anyway?” Regina said to herself.

She picked up her bag and headed out to work.

Robin sat on the patio at Granny’s. He had walked all night and he found himself back at where he had left his heart.

Regina walked up and stopped in front of him.

“If you were waiting for me, it was a waste of your time.” Regina said as cold and aloof as she could manage.

“I wasn’t waiting for you.” Robin said. “I had been walking and I just ended up here. Regina, we need to talk about this.”

“There is nothing to talk about. She is your wife. Go be with her.” Regina started walking away.

Robin grabbed her arm to stop her.

Regina looked down at the lion tattoo. She hesitated then pulled away.

“I want to be with you. Remember what you said? The man with the lion tattoo is your true love. I am the man with the lion tattoo.” Robin said.

“That was before your wife showed up in Storybrooke. You should thank the Savior for that.” Regina said.

“I love you, Regina!” Robin shouted at her.

Robin grabbed her and kissed her. Regina melted in his arms. He held on to her and wouldn’t let her pull away.

“I love you too but …” Regina said as she leaned against his shoulder.

“I know.” Robin held her even tighter and realized that the path to true love is rough and painful.

True Love (inventive title I know)
words: 500 (phew just made it)
rating: T
pairings: Robin/Regina, Snow/Charming

“Why do we have to see her?” Charming whined as he walked reluctantly beside his wife.

“I just want to see her today. I don’t want her to be alone like usual on her birthday.” Snow admonished her husband who’d rather not spend a day traipsing up to the Queen’s castle for a handful of insults and dirty looks. But he’d agreed because he knew he couldn’t stop his wife when she set her mind to something. She checked up on her more than the Queen would like, but she couldn’t help it. She still felt the pull of the unresolved regrets of the past and likely always would.

The house guard had told them she was at the stables. Snow closed her eyes and took a deep breath that only meant one thing. Even after all these years she was still grieving the loss of her first love Daniel.

“Maybe we shouldn’t go down there. It won’t be pretty.” Charming insisted.

It never was.

Snow shook her head. “I have to. Stay here if you like.”
He had no choice but to follow and so he did. They made their way down the hill to the stables. The fresh scent of hay lingered on the wind and the sounds of horses filled the air. But above all that there was an unmistakable sound.

Laughter.

Snow stopped in her tracks. She moved closer and peered around the wood building. Charming followed her, his head settling just above his wife’s so he could see.

“Oh my,” Snow uttered quietly as she took in the scene, “it’s been a long time since I’ve seen her like this.”

Charming shook his head in disbelief. “I’ve never seen her like this.”

There was the Queen with little Roland. The boy was perched atop a dark chestnut pony. He was gleefully snapping the reigns as Regina laughed trying to help him learn to gallop. She was laughing; an honest, heartfelt, warm laugh full of joy and her smile was beaming with happiness.

Watching on from the fence was Robin Hood, his smile as wide and his laugh as true. “Come on Roland, you can do it. Hold the reigns tightly; show that filly a thing of two.”

“Don’t listen to your father. She needs to be in control, you just need to guide her,” Regina looked back at him and raised an eyebrow.

With that Robin hopped over the fence and went to her side. He bent his head and gave her a soft peck on the cheek. She looked up at him and smiled, her eyes lighting up as she whispered something no one else could hear but him.

Snow couldn’t help but smile. Regina had found happiness.

“I guess we’re not needed today.” Charming said as he started to move away quietly.

“I guess not.” Snow looked back one more time at the blissful family adding, “True love always finds a way, sometimes it just takes a little longer for some of us.”

Very sweet! I love the connections here, from Snow caring about Regina to Roland making her laugh. Great job! :-)

Also love the twist on Robin telling Roland to control the filly to Regina telling him to ignore him and that he only needed to guide her, much like a certain Queen to a certain thief. :-)

There is one man he has trusted freely to be present in this pivotal moment of his life, but he can barely focus on his words for the other thoughts singing through his mind. He has suffered so much that he long ago gave up hope of this moment ever happening, of this precious dream he has held so long close and quiet to his heart ever becoming reality. His son is dead, but his hope is restored.

He holds the hands of the woman he loves. She calls him a book, and he is not in the least bit anguished but rather touched instead. She, too, has suffered so much, and most of it because she has chosen to love him. He touches her gingerly, gently, almost as though he is afraid she will break, and indeed he is frightened secretly that, at any moment now, he will awaken and find himself still a prisoner and these wondrous happenings merely another dream.

But she says the words. He says his, and the town's Conscience says his. The moment comes to an end, but there is one thing left to do. Belle lifts her head up to him, her eyes full of trust and love. He kisses her like he's never done before, and he understands fully what all of this means.

Nothing that has come before has truly mattered. What happens after this few precious moments in time also do not hold great measure for right now, these moments in which their hearts beat as one, is truly that for which he has spent his entire life waiting. This is not another beginning. This is his happy ending, and this wonderful woman before him who has chosen to share his happy ending, whatever future they may have, and all of his dreams, both spun and unspun, is his True Love. "I love you, Belle," he breaths against her lips, knowing no truer words have ever been spoken, and kisses her again with hope that this happy ending will last them eternity.

The End

This is lovely. You really captured Rumple's thoughts and what Belle means to him. The wedding was perfect as were the vows they shared. Whatever happens in the future they had this moment of true love and he can accept that. I particularly liked this line This is his happy ending, and this wonderful woman before him who has chosen to share his happy ending, whatever future they may have, and all of his dreams, both spun and unspun, is his True Love. Wonderful work.

I can't wait for S4 to see what happens next. I suspect Rumple will need to prove that true love and then some.

PS-I seriously need a Rumbelle icon!! :)

Thank you!! :-)

The vows were definitely perfect, and although I would have changed Belle's wedding dress, it was pretty perfectly fitting for them, and especially for poor, dear Rumpel. He will have to prove that True Love, but if they write Belle right, she'll still be understanding.
