Sorry folks. Yesterday was a travel day from the convention to Disney World. I didn’t get onto the real Internet until this morning but I wanted to continue this so I am posting it today.

From the ABC press release at the time of the show’s Airing.

Regina and Mr. Gold play dirty politics and take opposite sides when Emma runs for a coveted Storybrooke public office against Sidney. Meanwhile, back in the fairytale world that was, Rumplestiltskin tries to track down the ultimate power source in order to help his son avert the horrors of a meaningless war.

1. Did you see this live or was it later?

2.What do you remember most about the episode?

3.Did you find anything surprising when you rewatched it? Like “Oh that’s where they set that up” or “I had forgotten that ______ happened here”

4. Considering what we saw of Mr. Gold and Rumplestilskin, was his origin a surprise to you? What about it was?

5. This is the first time we see Gold go up against Regina but by using someone else, did this change your opinion of either Regina or Gold? Did you have a feeling that this sort of thing went on in the Enchanted Forest all the time? Or were they working more closely together?

6. How do you think Emma felt when she found out that she was played, played and played again?

7. Zoza was played by a powerhouse of an actor by the name of Brad Dourif, what did you think about how Zoza played Rumple?

8. Do you think this is when Regina started suspecting that Gold was more than what she made him with the curse?

9. Do you think Gold would have let Emma and Regina die in a fire or do you think he had a contingency plan in place?

I love this episode so much.

1. Did you see this live or was it later?
I saw it later (and I'd been spoiled)

2.What do you remember most about the episode?
The Gold-Emma interaction? It's what I liked the best, so I remember it best too. The very last one is one of my favourite scenes in the whole series.

4. Considering what we saw of Mr. Gold and Rumplestilskin, was his origin a surprise to you? What about it was?
Again, I'd been spoiled, so no surprises; but I adore his backstory here (I'm less happy with backstory in the last season(s); I feel like there are eventually too many specific dramatic defining moments in his story). I think it fits very well with what we know about his character, and I love the "Desperate Souls" theme, and the way Rumple gets tricked into this, and then uses other people's desperation himself, with Emma, with all the people he makes deals with throughout his life later. Also, spinner!Rumple is badass.

5. This is the first time we see Gold go up against Regina but by using someone else, did this change your opinion of either Regina or Gold? Did you have a feeling that this sort of thing went on in the Enchanted Forest all the time? Or were they working more closely together?
I did get the impression, both in this episode and in Skin Deep, that this was something that happened a lot between them – but with what we learn later and how close they seem to the end, I'm less sure.
I also wondered if something similar happened in Storybrooke; season two suggests that Storybrooke was utterly static before, but maybe it did change a bit with Henry? I feel like Regina would have been certain Gold remembers earlier if him trying to act against her had been this unusual.

6. How do you think Emma felt when she found out that she was played, played and played again?
The thing is, I feel Gold is very good at making her not hate him in spite of everything. I figure she was upset, and maybe regretting her deal and questioning her decisions, but her "no way you planned this" almost sounds impressed? I'm not sure she's worried; and she's not stepping down, same as Rumple realises he's been tricked into taking his power and isn't regretting it.

7. Zoza was played by a powerhouse of an actor by the name of Brad Dourif, what did you think about how Zoza played Rumple?
I thought it was fascinating; the way Rumple is so very frightened and meek there, but this is how Zoza pushed him into taking the Dark One's power – not by offering or anything of the sort, and this is what works.

8. Do you think this is when Regina started suspecting that Gold was more than what she made him with the curse?
No, I'm sure Regina had doubts ever since the conversation at the end of episode two. I think she knows, actually, she just doesn't want to face the fact.

9. Do you think Gold would have let Emma and Regina die in a fire or do you think he had a contingency plan in place?
I never assumed he had contingency plans. That could have ended badly...
