Hiatus HiJinx I’ll go down with the ship
Jun. 13th, 2014 03:38 pmHow about one a little further a field than the obvious.
Grumpy/Leroy and Nova/Astrid
Who have a rather tragic romance if you ask me.
So a few questions to start the discussion and please feel free to add.
1) What would you call this ship?
2) Do you think that Leroy and Astrid go on dates in Storybrooke?
3) It was his romance with Nova that changed Grumpy’s name from Dreamy. Do you think it was better to have loved and lost rather than have loved at all?
4) Would their love be considered an inner species relationship?
5) How about in Storybrooke where they are both human but she is nun?

I think they should. ;)

Hmm, I don't know. If - as Bossy said - dwarves can't love, why did he actually become Grumpy? It was just a dream and not love, right?*
4) Would their love be considered an inner species relationship?
LOL I don't suppose it matters in the Enchanted Forest. :)
5) How about in Storybrooke where they are both human but she is nun?
I think it'd be interesting to see if their friendship developed into something more in a future episode...
* The business of Blue and Bossy saying that they couldn't be in love, not that they *shouldn't*, really bothered me. Who were they to be so omnipotent?

Date: 2014-06-14 12:45 pm (UTC)And then, I feel like it would have been really interesting to see how Nova feels about this now; I mean, it turns out she never took vows so she's not really a nun, but still, maybe it still feels real to her and not like something she can just chuck out and ignore? Maybe the show doesn't want to go into religion anyway (what's with the priest at Snow and Charming's wedding? does the catholic church span across worlds? 'cause that would be cool and I want to know!), but I always figured it's meaningful that the fairies, with Blue and her very arenunciation focused morality, are nuns in Storybrooke. And what's with the whole "fairies need crystals" thing, now that we know there's also pure "good" magic...?).
(I'm a fan of the "Blue is secretly Evil or/and has an agenda of her own" theory, but I'm even more of a fan of the idea of Blue just genuinely being well-meaning and kinda dickish and really bad with people and their earthly problems such as personal love).
I think Grumpy is better off having known and loved Nova, yes, and I do think that's how he feels; he's not Happy anymore, but – he seems more real? Human? Clearly dwarfs can love, and I think he's better off having discovered that.
I don't think the inter species thing really matters either; the relationship felt very sex-less in FTL for one, and now they're both human anyway.
