I streamed it. I got into season one about halfway through. Plus I don't have a TV right now.

2. What do you think of The Pilot now?

I think it was a good setup. I think the show got more interesting characterization later on. And the whole Emma as Henry's real mother from season one still annoys me. But on a whole, I think the Pilot was a good start to the show.

I think it was a little of both. I think the writers were referencing the original. I'm not sure they'd even decided the real reason yet or not. But I think in-show Snow was ashamed of the real reason or at least didn't want to talk about it.

4. Jen Morrison knew from the beginning who Henry's father is. Did she give anything away in her performance?

Not until season 2. I think in season 2 I kind of got the idea of what was going to happen. Not sure that's her performance, though. Certainly not in the pilot.

5. What did you think when Regina first appeared both in FTL and Storybrooke? What do you think now?

I thought she was badass. I was excited to have a female villain. I thought the motherhood angle was interesting and hoped they would be nuanced with it. Now she's my favorite character. I think she's the most interesting and most complex character. I love her redemption arc. And while season one was iffy on the motherhood angle, I'm glad with where they went with it eventually (although they still sometimes go too far into birth mother=real mother like the idea that once the memory spell was gone Emma had any legal right to take Henry back to New York without Regina's permission).

6. Do you think Gold recognized Emma or just her name when she checked in at Granny's? Do you think hearing her name broke the curse for him?

No, I don't think he recognized her. Just her name.

7. Do you think there was something going on between Ruby and Gold?

Nope.

-When I first saw the commercials, I'd really wanted to watch it but never got around to it. A week before the finale aired, me and my best friend binge-watched the entire first season.

2. What do you think of The Pilot now?

-I think it set up a really fascinating storyline and I loved the whole season one thing where you tried to figure out which character was which fairy tale creature. That was my favorite part.

-I think when they were doing the pilot, they probably were going to have that be the reason. I don't think I can come up with an in-character reason. I agree, perhaps she was too ashamed to tell him the reason.

-That Henry's father was Rumpelstiltskin's son? I don't think so. I don't think there's anything really to act in that way, though.

5. What did you think when Regina first appeared both in FTL and Storybrooke? What do you think now?

-I was intrigued by her. I hated the whole idea of the fact that she wasn't Henry's real mother because she was his adopted mother and I loved her interactions with Henry the most. I like her a lot more now that she does have that whole idea of love around her, that she can and does love her son. But even then, I was excited to see where they'd take things.

6. Do you think Gold recognized Emma or just her name when she checked in at Granny's? Do you think hearing her name broke the curse for him?

-I believe that I've heard that hearing her name broke the curse so I've always thought that. I don't think he recognized her at all even after he knew who she was.

7. Do you think there was something going on between Ruby and Gold?

-No.

I watched it live! Well, ok, technically I TiVo'd it and watched it that way, but I think I only waited until like half the show was over so I didn't have to watch the commercials. So basically live XD

2. What do you think of The Pilot now?
I think it was a solid beginning to the series, though looking back it feels a bit stilted, since the actors were clearly still getting used to their characters. But it was certainly enough to hook me on the series, and I'd still say it's a good start.

Honestly, I think that was something that got lost going from the pilot to the series. That's one of several inconsistencies (Red's cape is a completely different style, for example), and I'm betting the writers just went with the traditional reason for the Evil Queen/Snow White animosity when they wrote the pilot. Then, once it was picked up, they ended up taking it in a different direction. That's actually pretty common for pilots.

4. Jen Morrison knew from the beginning who Henry's father is. Did she give anything away in her performance?
Considering we didn't even know about Baelfire at this point, I don't think she could have.

5. What did you think when Regina first appeared both in FTL and Storybrooke? What do you think now?
I originally saw her as a very traditional villain with a grudge. I think that's still the effect I get from watching the pilot. Of course, now we know EVERYONE has layers, and while I'm not a huge fan of Regina over all, I am glad she became more of a three-dimensional character.

6. Do you think Gold recognized Emma or just her name when she checked in at Granny's? Do you think hearing her name broke the curse for him?
Back when I first watched the show, I thought Gold had all his memories still intact, so I figured he knew everything. Now we've had confirmation from Adam and Eddie that hearing her name broke the curse for him, so I think at that point, he knew she was Snowing's daughter and the savior.

7. Do you think there was something going on between Ruby and Gold?
Originally I wasn't sure. There was certainly a charged look between them. I'm guessing not, especially since that thread was essentially dropped, but considering Ruby's cursed persona, she might have had a thing for him. I doubt it was returned, but then again, we have no way of knowing what kind of cursed personality Regina gave Gold. We don't get to know him at all before he meets Emma and he regains his memories, so who knows.

On TV when it first aired.

I loved the creativity of it, and still do. The way they shifted between FTL and Storybrooke/Boston to set the story.

I'm sure it was a call-out to the movie/original fairy tale; at that point, they may not have decided on the Snow's blabbing gets Daniel killed arc.

I think she'd made it obvious in season 1 that he was not really a firefighter who'd died heroically. My radar for lying pinged at that. ;) I don't think she gave any indication that Neal was Rumple's son though; Emma didn't know until season 2.

5. What did you think when Regina first appeared both in FTL and Storybrooke? What do you think now?
I thought, "Holy crap, this character is AMAZING." ♥ And still do! It was actually Emma who I couldn't stand during the pilot and season 1. She's since grown on me.

6. Do you think Gold recognized Emma or just her name when she checked in at Granny's? Do you think hearing her name broke the curse for him?
I think he recognized her name and it tripped him into fully remembering FTL and the curse.

7. Do you think there was something going on between Ruby and Gold?
I definitely think they were implying it! A bit sad that that was never developed.

No, I watched it when they had a marathon on CTV during the winter break.

Not bad, not the worst pilot, maybe one of the best.

I think they (the writers) were trying to be clever and and hide the fact for shock value later on.

I don't know but considering the show you'd have to be blind deaf and mute not to know who his father was.

I HATED her outfit in FTL, but I loved her character. In Storybrook, I think it suits her a lot better. She seems more comfortable.

6. Do you think Gold recognized Emma or just her name when she checked in at Granny's? Do you think hearing her name broke the curse for him?
Just her name. Names have power after all.

7. Do you think there was something going on between Ruby and Gold?
Maybe he cursed her family? But other than that, no. I think she just knows that he's this uber powerful (maybe insane) Dark One and he should be avoided.

I HATED her outfit in FTL, but I loved her character. In Storybrook, I think it suits her a lot better. She seems more comfortable.

I didn't think much of her FTL outfit either. At least, not the in the pilot. She had that weird hair thing.

I don't think she accepted the real reason at the time, and truly believed what she told him.

Initially, I thought she was pure evil and very unsympathetic; now I sympathize with her and enjoy watching her, but underneath there's still a little evil.

Just the name.

I always thought that hearing Emma's name broke the curse for Gold. I thought that's why he asked Snow for her name and why he wrote her name down a bunch of times in his cell.

As for Snow's comment about being prettier, I think it was Snow being facetious. At least, that's how I rationalize it. Maybe the writers didn't have all the kinks worked out, but a few episodes later (Snow Falls?), didn't someone (David?) ask her why the queen hated her and she said because Regina blames her for ruining her life and Snow admits that she did?

I didn't watch The Pilot until it was on DVD. I got the first DVD from netflix, loved the pilot and thought "this show will break my heart" and didn't end up watching any other episodes. Last summer I decided to watch it again on Netflix Steaming and still loved it and then ended up watching the first two seasons in about a month.

2. What do you think of The Pilot now?

I still love it. I've seen it at least 5 times now.

I think it was probably a call out to the Disney movie/original fairy tale.

I hated her. I thought she was an interesting character, but one that I did not like at all. I like her a lot more now, though sometimes she still drives me a little crazy.

I think hearing her name broke the curse for him, which was his intention I believe.

No. It never even occurred to me to wonder before either.

I watched it when it aired.

I really appreciate The Pilot especially with the added drama in this previous season. The Pilot really had a lot of innocence.

I honestly think it was a call out to the Disney move/original fairy tale because Snow seems to live up to understanding what she did. She is ashamed but at the same time she was still a child.

I didn't see any indications of who Henry's father was.

They seemed like slightly different people. Queen Regina had this vengeful motive but Mayor Mills acted as a mother worried about her son. It wasn't until the interaction between Emma and Regina that we see the Queen coming out.

I think it was just the name and he hearing it that broke the curse for him.

Since I rewatched it Sunday, I think it holds up and doesn't contradict much of what followed.

I'd go with the Disney movie

She played that very well. Esp. if you go back and watch that short interaction with Regina where she is asked if the father is going to be in the picture. Given what we know now, the scene reads totally differently than it did then.


5. What did you think when Regina first appeared both in FTL and Storybrooke? What do you think now?
Loved her as the Evil Queen and thought what a cool idea that she was the equivalent of being the ruler in Storybrooke. Still love her a lot even with all her flaws.

6. Do you think Gold recognized Emma or just her name when she checked in at Granny's? Do you think hearing her name broke the curse for him?
I am in the party that believes that Emma's name broke his curse esp. after we saw the page of squid ink in his cell. He made her his trigger. Also compare the shirt he wore when he met Emma with the shirt he is wearing when he goes to talk to Regina. He came to and wondered where his fashion sense had gone.

In curse storybrooke? Maybe.
