First post here, hi everyone!
Down to business. Is anyone else 'shipping this? EDIT: Yes, they are.

...I don't just mean in Storybrooke; I mean in Fairyland, as well. To be honest, I've been somewhat obsessed with this pairing since Ep. 1x2, "The Thing You Love Most." I believe that Rumple/Gold and Evil Queen/Regina had probably the most interaction in that episode, and frankly, I found it incredibly compelling how they interact.
The episode is viewable online at ABC's web site, if you care to revisit it. Look carefully. Rumple/Gold takes a lot of liberties with Queen/Regina, and I believe it's because he's pretty much the only person with any power over her. Think about it:
1.) According to the scene in the Fairyland prison, Rumple was responsible forgiving showing the Queen how to use THE CURSE (she stole it from Maleficent, thank you,
kathrynthegr8). He seemed absolutely nonchalant about the fact that, supposedly, he, too, would be affected by it and would forget all about himself.
2.) In fact, Mr. Gold (Rumple's Storybrooke counterpart) appears to remember quite a bit about himself. He is the only one in Storybrooke who really strikes me as someone who has power over Regina. He also remembers that he only need say the word "Please" to get her to do anything he wants.
3.) It was MR. GOLD who found Henry for Regina. And WHY did he give her Emma Swann's son? Because he wanted to bring Emma to Storybrooke.
...Apart from all of that, watch the very talented Robert Carlyle and Lana Parilla in their scenes together. It is unmistakable chemistry in their dialogue, their body language, their posturing. They even let some of it slip in their interviews at Comic-Con in 2010. I believe that there is purposeful 'shipping material being written between these two characters and that we are meant to see the power struggle between them with a vaguely romantic bent.
EDIT: Thank you for the comm links, friends.

So...Rumple made the curse and gave it to the Evil Queen, who traded it to Maleficent, and then wanted it back
