Mods, please delete if you feel this is TOO off topic but I feel its fitting)

This is slightly off topic but given our love of this show, even in it's newborn glory, retelling Fairy Tales is nothing new to the industry.

Besides Once Upon A Time, what is your favorite modern take on fairy tales?

Mine is hands down, The 10th Kingdom. An NBC mini series that was so amazingly done that to this day I can quote it. I own it on VHS 3 times over (because as people my age know, VHS tapes could and would be eaten by the machine) and twice on DVD because I lost a disk. But I also own the book AND soundtrack.

Opening: http://youtu.be/RcKgcF-FU9M
(this is an award winning opening, literally)
Trailer One: http://youtu.be/pQMBTWayAlE (about 1:50 is the quote I will be forever thinking of during this show)
Trailer Two: http://youtu.be/aRmZbwxorcc (this is the one I grew up with)

The runner up is Rammstein's "Sonne". I was so stunned by this video, the story it told and the song itself (I kinda know German but it's that hard to figure out. It's about the Sun.)

It tells the ADULT tale of a gold addicted Snow White and the dwarves (the band) sheer adoration and love of her. The from 2:19 on is my favorite part of the whole video. I bought the video and three versions of the song on iTunes because I love it that much.

And naturally Sondhiem "Into the Woods" which you can find on Netflix if you're on it.

What about you guys?

I don't know if this counts, but there was a mini-series a few years back for Alice in Wonderland called Alice.

The 1987 TV series Beauty and The Beast. I have the books, the soundtrack/poetry CD and had the VHS tapes. Now I watch it on Netflix. The first two seasons were the best. After Linda Hamilton left, it lost it's magic. You can't have the Beast without his Beauty. Plus, the whole baby thing with the bad guy keeping the baby and Vincent going apeshit about it...YAWN.

This is what made it so fantastic...

Since I'm doubting Faerie Tale Theatre and Snow White Tale of Terror would count as "modern" - I'll say the wonderful 90s gift that was Adventures in Wonderland.
