PLEASE READ ~ Letter from the Mods
Feb. 20th, 2013 01:29 pmHello Members.
It's time to discuss a fairly grave situation that me and the other mods have discussed at length. There are two parts to this issue.
1. Members who continue to be argumentative. Guys, this is supposed to be a fun place to visit. It was NOT created for everyone to argue with one another. A healthy debate is okay, but not to where it gets to the point of accusations and being rude. Most of you already know what it is I am speaking of. We lost a couple of members thanks to the behavior of ONE MEMBER. This one member has since been banned. I am telling all of you this for two reasons. 1, don't EVER hesitate to let us know if you feel insulted by another member. We do read the comments, but we may miss something from time to time. If you feel downright insulted or annoyed, and the user will not let it go, TELL US. From the first moment you feel like you're being argued with, it becomes a matter for us to deal with. Because we will not put up with members who are disrespectful. We want all of you to get to know each other and make friends and discuss this wonderful show together in a safe and friendly place because our love for this fandom makes us desire to get to know other people with the same love. Don't ever hesitate to message me,
hughville or
lucyskyx if you feel like you're being singled out or hurt. We'll fight the fight for you because, frankly, none of these fights should ever happen. 2, I am telling you this to show that, quite frankly, WeTheMods are here to help you. We won't put up with members who are like this. Being minus one members shows that to all of you.
2. Bashing. I use this term in the sense of bashing actors and characters instead of each other (as I feel I already did that). There is a very fine line when it comes to the definition of bashing. We can be lenient on some levels and not on others, but the point is that the ultimate definition of bashing in this comm comes from WeTheMods. On that note, saying an actor does not have the acting ability to pull off a scene is bashing. Period. There is to be no dissing of an actor in ANY WAY. An actor's abilities are simply that: they do it to the best of their abilities. It is not in our comm that we decide they cannot act or that a scene was not up to par with what we conceive as "acting standards." They're on the show for a reason. Because they passed an audition. If you don't like their acting, put it in your own journal. It doesn't belong here in an entry, a comment or any other way. Don't even post a link from your personal journal's entry here.
More than anything we want this comm to be a clean, friendly and welcoming place for people to be. I want it to be such that if one day, Horowitz or Kitsis is surfing and they come upon our comm, that they're not disgusted by some of this behavior. I understand everyone has their opinions, but we have to think of how the other members or users will perceive those opinions and whether or not they will be hurt by some of these opinions.
And I know this is probably a bit hard to believe considering the tone of this entry, but I want ALL members of this comm to feel like you can come to WeTheMods with anything. We don't LIKE being this way. We don't feel that our rules are too strict. If you do, let us know and we'll try to work with you. But try to remember that you are one of over 1,500 people who look at this comm (or more, counting non-members). If we can shift something to make you happy, we will. (We recently tweaked the layout so one of our member's could see the font easier.) But we will not bend the rules without reason because you're unhappy. This comm exists for a lot of people AS A WHOLE.
We want all of you to be able to come to us with anything. And we want to be there for you. But it is also our jobs to keep the rules intact. So if you receive a reply you don't like, please be patient with us. We are working very hard to make this place be a small haven in the OUaT corner of LJ.
If anyone has anything they'd like to add, PLEASE let us know. And it is always welcome to leave a comment in an entry like this as well as PMing.
We love you all and we want the best for the comm and our glorious fandom. Help us make it that way.
All our love,
jadestrick,
hughville &
lucyskyx
