Questions and Discussion Points for Tiny
Feb. 16th, 2013 08:46 amLate, but not too late I hope, I have the discussion questions for Tiny. And my review (which I also put up late) is here.
1. Okay. Why did Gold fly? Beyond the meta reason that the writers liked the idea. Since he drove to Logan already, driving the rest or taking the train would make the most sense. Reasons I've come up with: Gold has no experience in the real world and this shows it, and/or this is remnant of the curse memories in which Boston represents the WHOLE outside world.
2. Do you think he lost his magic at the airport? I was under the impression that magic ended at the border (unless you have a talisman or magical item - as it worked in Storybrooke pre-curse breaking) but it is certainly possible he thought he had a way around it.
3. What exactly do you think Regina is up to this episode? On one hand she wasn't at all upset that Tiny wanted to kill Charming and was happy to help him, but on the other, she mentioned needing a distraction. A distraction from what?
4. And how hard is it to keep track of a limping, barely able to move pirate? You know, the one who was handcuffed and should have remained handcuffed since he shot someone? It seems the FTL way is to ignore all known criminals. (even the ones without magic who can't *poof* away) Only Emma cared if Hook was locked up and she is out of town.
5. The giants talked about the 100 year bean harvest. I'm thinking that they may be waiting a while to get out of Storybrooke if magic beans are their method of choice.
6. Also, FTL certainly has some very messed race relations. First we find out the dwarfs are created as what is basically a slave race. And now we have humans committing genocide against the giants. The more we learn about FTL the more it seems an unpleasant place to live.
7. Do you think that the curse might not really be about Bae? Even if Rumpel thinks it is. In this episode we have canon that the beans have been around all the time he was crafting the curse. Either Rumpelstiltskin is much less intelligent and resourceful that we have been led to believe or maybe someone is making sure he doesn't get here some other way.
8. David is...David. Completely obvious in retrospect (a shepherd who becomes king) but since he is the only cursed person to keep his birth name as far as we know, I rather wonder if this was a little in-joke by Regina. Very few people know he is David and not James. Even Grumpy was never told!
9. So. Is this how they have decided to keep Belle safe? By lying to her, sedating her, and keeping her in the hospital right next to Greg! Not only is Belle being terribly mistreated (and since she is physically FINE, why is she still in the hospital?), but if they want Greg to go away none the wiser this is not the best course of action.

Date: 2013-02-16 04:56 pm (UTC)I think the Charmings let him go in order to question him about Cora's whereabouts. But why? They could have questioned him in the hospital. Of course a loose and free Hook doesn't bother me.

In The Return she was really keen on getting Rumple out of FTL and during Rumple's and her conversation at the end really seemed that she wanted him to know about the curse. I don't know, maybe that's just me, but I think she might be the "puppet master" behind this curse buisness.
9. Belle is one of my favorite characters and I hate how the writers are treating her. I agree 100% about keeping her pretty much locked away in the hospital and drugged up, but what really makes me upset is how they are lying to her. Why would they need to do that? Are they afraid that she'll leave and tell someone outside of town? Greg would be the person to worry about that happening. We have confirmation that her memories will return, she is going to remember how everyone treated her, maybe she won't be as forgiving as before.
Just my two cents. :) ♥♥♥

9. I certainly wouldn't be as forgiving but then I'm not Belle. At the very least I hope she is more wary. I'm so done with her being locked up and memory wiped.

I kind of hope it's explored though, if you ARE a magical being with magic in your blood do have have differences than those who can USE magic.
3. I kind of take it as a, she could really care less if he did die, but I don't think she expected him to. Tiny was a distraction, she knows the Charmings can generally take care of themselves, if she wanted them dead she could have ramped up the giant a whole lot more- and killed him in the end while she was at it removing any evidence of her role. Come on, you don't think Tiny will eventually mention Regina giving him the mushroom? I don't think she cares, or can afford to right now to stick close to Cora.
4. Yeah, they are all rather kind of dumb when it comes to keeping villians locked up. Regina gets the worst of it maybe, but even still...
5. I really really hope that comes up- maybe Tiny doesn't know that humans don't live as long or something.
6. I think it fits with the time period and world being represented. And I hope it does come up in a general way of if they DO go back, are they/would they want it to really be the same, or go back to their land, but affected for the better in terms of laws and other relations
7. I really hope so. I think Rumple has always thought that, and I would hope if there are other things at work, it doesn't downplay at ALL his METHODs (Regina, etc.) of bringing it about. I can see that happening and that would be a negative imo. But I do think they're going to have to come up with some grander arcs/purpose in season 3. S2 has been reactive, and there's Cora, but we're going to need some bigger bad forces at some point imo.
8. I Can see that. Also Regina just not caring. I just really got to wonder how hands on she was- if she was creating everything down to the names, holy crap give this woman some inventive dues, if not...then how did she get along. Did she get "fake" knowledge along side her real memories to cope?
9. Yeah, where is her father?? I just...crossing the line is suppose to remove your FTL memories, NOT SB. Belle didn't live in the town, was hidden away, but wouldn't she remember the nurse, Regina visiting her, some of that? WHY IS NO ONE ASKING!! The characters fall flat when this happens, and it drives me nuts. (Like Snow's lack of follow up on Daniel being brought to life...oi)

Date: 2013-02-23 05:10 am (UTC)3. Yeah, I didn't think she cared either way. And she knows by now that Charming can take care of himself. I doubt she expected anything to happen to him and that was fine so long as nobody was looking for her or Cora.
4. I think King George and Hook are even worse that Regina since neither one of them has magic! With Regina it can be explained - like with Gold you can't lock her up unless she agrees.
7. I agree about needing a grander plot in s3. s2 isn't bad but it doesn't hold together like the first season. There is no aim or purpose so far.
8. I'd say hands on with people she cared about, ie hated, but it's hard to tell how specific she could be. However, she could promise Rumpel wealth and power - which I think was part of the reason he wanted to be in jail in FTL - and could promise her associates good lives as well.
9. Charming knows she is estranged from her father (and that Gold would definitely be ANGRY) so I can see not contacting him in the hours since the accident. She may have no memories of Regina visiting her if Regina never did so before Emma showed up. I do hope they take Belle out of the fridge soon and give her some characterization.

the first clues were in Dreamy, though hints may have been there before.
(do the Fairies have an endgame, or have they just been manipulating people for the sake of manipulation, and because they can?)
-and- FTL is a world where people enter indentured servitude for wronging someone. (Jiminy)
(my Emma muse is muttering "and these are the good guys doing all this?")

I suppose its possible Rumplestiltskin doesn't know the Giants are still up there (and if he knows, might he have been led to believe they no longer had beans?)
