I thought the blade once said Zoso...but IMDB.com doesn't list anyone like that.

Closest it comes is "Old Beggar"...is that him?

Yep, that's him. I was remembering something that started with a "Z" that was much shorter than Rumplestiltskin, so you're probably right on the name, too.

It was the old beggar. "Zoso" is a shout-out to Led Zepplin, as it was an alternate title for their album Led Zepplin IV. If you're interested, wikipedia goes into more detail.
