Pretty good.
* I'll confess to being a little disappointed at the scene where the most powerful beings in the realm were dropping the most powerful substance in the realm - and all it could do was knock out a few dozen guards. (and King George kept his throne)
* I wonder how much of Belle's wanderings and sadness could have been avoided, if Rumplestiltskin had just told her that Baelfire was alive and somewhere else, and that was why he couldn't give up his powers.
...(granted, then we wouldn't have gotten the scene with Belle teaching Dreamy about love)
* Why did Gold tell Emma that Regina had run off...when a tied-up Regina was still in the room? (to make Emma later think to herself "Regina could have run off, but she didn't!" ?)
* To be honest, I had thought that Henry would be awoken a tear (or a kiss) from both his mothers at the same time - they both love him, after all. (or, heck, from his grandmother, who was reading to him while all that was going on)
...though until and unless S2 tells me otherwise, I'm going to believe that Henry wasn't affected by the Curse because he was loved and cared for by Regina.
Now...onto s2!

Date: 2012-10-06 06:57 pm (UTC)I think the only reason that Regina's kiss wouldn't wake up Henry is because Regina's love isn't actually all that pure. She exploits Henry's love to her advantage sometimes while Emma doesn't really expect anything back from Henry, she just wants him be safe. And as for Snow, she didn't know Henry was her grandson or that she even had one so it would be tough for her to truly love him.
That's a nice thought on Henry being protected by Regina's love, though again I don't think it's entirely pure. I mean she killed her father, the thing she loved most and then named her adopted kid after him. She's just looking for love and then destroying it. I think we find out more of Regina's downward spiral in this season as we know she was a kind girl growing up and now is evil.
you raised excellent points

>I think the only reason that Regina's kiss wouldn't wake up Henry is because Regina's love isn't actually all that pure.
on this show, nobody is.
(and Emma has wanted something back from Henry - she wants him to be a normal kid, not living in a fantasy)
and my thought (on Regina's love protecting Henry from the curse), that was based on what Charming's mother told him.
>She exploits Henry's love to her advantage sometimes
That would be tough - I admit she exploits others' love for Henry (using it to buy half an hour alone with Mr. Gold)...but given that I can't think of any times Henry actually cared for Regina (resigned to be with her, sure), Regina's love seems a lot more unilateral.
>I mean she killed her father, the thing she loved most and then named her adopted kid after him.
she also rescued her father (who, being one of the few things Regina cared about, made him a perfect target for pretty much anybody)
and what's wrong with naming kids after deceased relatives?
> She's just looking for love and then destroying it.
given what's happened to her every time she's found love or tried to show love...
>downward spiral
I suspect part of it is from learning magic.
(that and probably Snow pouring salt in the wounds where Daniel is concerned)

Yeah, sorry, I was a bit out of it when I left this comment. I do see your point in that. I think if Gold had left Regina to her own devices then he was afraid she'd come back and foil his plan before he was actually able to get the potion from Emma. Regina was bent on saving Henry as well and thought the potion was the only way.

She still killed him though!!! It's just sick and crazy

I agree actually!
