The Shepherd's Name

In the scene just before the Wraith comes for Regina while she is locked up, Charming is ready to give Regina up to the Wraith when Snow turns to him and quietly says his name: "David".

Is this the Shepherd's real name? His brother was James and we all, or at least I, assumed that "David" became his name in our world because it's another kingly name. But maybe it's not...?

Someone want to speculate with me?

I think they are just continuing to use "real world" names... because Snow was referred to as Mary Margaret by Charming a few times.

Yeah, there's that but people were also referring to each other by their FTL names too...but I don't know, maybe it means nothing

I was wondering about the name issue too. I notice she called him David when he was acting negative. I wonder if as they remember both lives she thinks of Charming as good and David as negative?

Charming called Snow by her real name and called her Mary Margaret to Henry as that's what he knows her best by.

David could be his real name though.

It's also what they've been calling each other recently and maybe they've still got to come to terms that they were both: the fairy tale and the 'real'. The curse was just broken.
