Episode Discussion 1x20: The Stranger
August promises to enlighten Emma and take her on a journey that will show her how she can beat Regina, and possibly take custody of Henry; and with Mary Margaret returning to work, Regina puts a plan in motion to seduce David. Meanwhile, in the fairytale land that was, with the Evil Queen's curse about to strike, Geppetto agrees to a plan that will save Snow White and Prince Charming's daughter, but with a proviso that could also save his own son.

EMMA YOU COMPLETE IDIOT
This was a very capslock kind of episode!

Date: 2012-04-30 02:07 am (UTC)AUGUST WHY DID YOU LEAVE BABY EMMA!!!!!!!!!
EMMA YOU IDIOT HOW CAN YOU BE SO BLIND!!!!!!
I said these exact words....
I'm so upset that Emma is so blind she can't even see hard evidence (excuse the pun) of August's wooden leg.
I can't believe August didn't take care of Emma! Of course it was only seven. His father was asking too much of him. Gepetto was being really selfish. Of course he was looking out for his son, with everything he had lost in his life, i'm sure it was excruciating imagining losing his son.
However, Emma started crying at the end of the episode, and acting out of desperation. Does that mean that perhaps there is a chink in her armor...
The last episode will tell us everything we want to know, and most important LEAVE US DESPERATE FOR MORE!

Date: 2012-05-02 02:12 am (UTC)I only worry about the message this show is sending about adoptive parents being 'omg so terrible!11!~'. Regina has been a good mother to Henry (just look at how he turned out), and Emma even conceded to the fact that Regina does love him. We have seen very little of Emma's parenting, and I'm not sure why we're supposed to believe she'd be superior simply because 'she's good'. Emma has no legal right to him, and Regina has been generous as hell considering a restraining order would not be out of place in the closed adoption she agreed to. Emma should not have taken Henry, plain and simple.

Date: 2012-04-30 02:15 am (UTC)Why doesn't August "Pinocchio" show everyone in town his wooden leg? Maybe HE can be some sort of savior! People in town might start believing if he told them their story. And his own.
Just my thoughts. I've kinda lost all hope in Emma at this point.

Date: 2012-04-30 02:32 am (UTC)If Emma believed already, the show wouldn't last beyond two seasons, I think. It is frustrating though.

Date: 2012-04-30 02:59 am (UTC)I was hoping though, that the townspeople had more faith than Emma. Maybe showing Henry.

Date: 2012-04-30 03:38 am (UTC)i can understand why Geppetto did what he did, i would do the same to save my son if i were in his shoes. and i can understand why August did what he did when he was a kid. August was 7 years old when Emma was born, making him responsible to make sure Emma does what she is supposed to do, was not a good idea. even if August had stayed he and Emma would not have been able to stay together, the system would have separated them.
i can under stand where Emma is coming from in her disbelief. she has had a hard life and has probably been lied to a lot growing up so that she will only believe what she can see, hear , and touch. knew more than my share of people like that growing up.

Date: 2012-04-30 03:53 am (UTC)i did it before i started student teaching. the thought of being responsible for 17 five year old kids scared the shit out of me.
the truth is out there emma...face your fears!!
and i got all sentimental when August and daddy were in the garage...
GOOD GOD I WANT THE NEXT EPISODE SO EFFIN BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FJDSKFJKSLDJFKLSDJ!!! n
i also love how there are STILL so effin many plot holes that can be left open for next season...like...will rumple EVER find bae??? will we ever find out how Regina's mother died? will we ever find out about belle some more? or how about how gepetto carved Pinocchio?

These guys with their cliffhangers. I'm both excited and scared to see the season finale cliffhanger in 2 weeks.

Date: 2012-04-30 05:37 pm (UTC)Very, very true. David's behavior especially.

No I definitely don't see that happening.
On another plotline...
Date: 2012-05-05 10:30 am (UTC)David: Thank you for NOT thinking with your dick this time and getting the hell out of there before you did something dumb. You are rebounding from Kathryn, and didn't have the balls to keep your word to Mary Margaret. For once, you showed some sense (and self-preservation)!
Mary Margaret: That bitch tried to land you a life sentence in the State Pen and treats you like a verbal punching bag. Don't forgive a damn thing until she repents (likely a cold day in hell)
Metatext punchline: Oh, Regina. Nice attempt at the Jack Thompson school of "video games kill a kid's imagination." Would probably have worked better if Henry wasn't hooked on Encom's finest and the town shrink didn't sound suspiciously like Kaiden.
