In order to keep the season 3 finale ending scene with Elsa a secret, Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis scripted an alternate ending. Only the show creators and the small crew that filmed the end scene knew about the secret ending. The scripted ending featured the Sorcerer's hat coming out of the urn instead of Elsa.
