I have this week's questions and discussion points!

1. Oh, Mary Margaret, you did run! *shakes head sadly* Now I'm curious as to what would have happened to her at the border of town. We've had a couple of car crashes, labor starting, and a heart attack (or the memory of one) so far. Maybe a tree would have fallen on her? And with things now allowed to change there is no reason she could not have died.

2. Last week when I wondered if it was either Regina or Gold framing her the one answer I didn't expect was both of them. Though I should have! Regina is going to want Gold in her corner for this and not working against her so making a deal seems the way to go. And Mr. Gold is always (almost) willing to make a deal so long as you are willing to pay the price. This doesn't mean he isn't invested in Mary Margaret's future or that Regina is going to get what she wants in the way she thinks she is going to get it but it does make me wonder what he's up to and what the price was. I just have to remember that he is always on his side.

3. How did Mary Margaret get back to the jail cell? Emma's car wasn't there! I believe August was supposed to be in this episode and I'm wondering if her got her back there on his motorcycle. If they were pressed for time the motorcycle would be faster as well as set Regina up for the reveal.

4. Was Jefferson literally trapped in his house for 28 years? For a madman he was remarkably clear and lucid so I think he was. And that leads to a question about the curse. How did he survive? Did no one need to eat for 28 years? Did no one need a hair cut? Did they just have memories of food and haircuts? Was stopped time more complete than I thought? How weird was it for Henry?

5. That was a seriously detailed map for someone who has only been able to leave his house for a few months. I wonder how much of Storybrooke he can see from his giant mansion with his telescope. And how much time he has spent exploring once he could walk out the door.

6. Also, giant mansion in the middle of town that Emma never noticed before! The girl needs to look up occasionally. Or perhaps distance, like time, doesn't work quite the way we are used to elsewhere.

7. This giant mansion makes me think of Mr. Gold's house. Rather small don't you think? And not terribly well appointed for the man who owns the town. I've decided I need to rewrite his house in my head to something bigger and more suited to his position of power in town. I'm thinking large, two-story at most, nice grounds, and not too close to the neighbors.

8. Who do you think the Queen of Hearts is to Regina? Her mother? A friend turned enemy? A mentor in magic? There is clearly some history there in addition to her wall of hearts looking very familiar. (This episode is post-Huntsman since she seems to be consolidated in her power so we have two queens each with their own heart wall.)

9. And who is Jefferson to Regina? He seemed very comfortable in her presence, getting very close to her and calling her by name. Family? Ex-lover? Both? (Yeah, they probably won't go there. *g*)

10. Was the ring of doors in the hat seriously cool or what? I know we saw a door for Oz so I'm expecting that land to show up at some point. What other lands could be behind those doors? Neverland? The Wind in the Willows? Gulliver's Travels?

11. Where did Jefferson end up? It seems the hat worked though we didn't see it. Fairytale land is basically (or completely) empty. Wonderland isn't a place I think he would want to go back to and I don't know about the rest. Perhaps he went into the room with the doors and is planning on coming back out through the hat to get Grace before they both leave. Or perhaps he is going to use that hat to work against Regina. If he didn't hate her before, he certainly hates her now.

12. To finish: how much has Emma's certainty in the singularity of our reality been shaken? I don't think she's a believer yet but it seems she has finally opened her eyes a crack and let some light in.

What I can't figure out about the curse is this: how has Henry been able to age to get to age 10? He was able to sneak out to get to Boston, but he said he HAD to go back. So, he's aged while others have not too. What other loopholes is he granted?

Jefferson was great! I figured he somehow ended up back in Fairytale Land since he wasn't on the ground, but I hope that gives him a way back, both for Grace, and to come after Regina. ;)

I loved finding out that Regina is Regina in both lands. Simpler than typing out "Evil Queen" all the time. LOL!

I can't figure out if Emma believes or still thinks that its a really bizarre set of coincidences. She was so earnest when talking to Jefferson about "that would mean that that woman in there is my mother" but then she knocked him out in the next second, so who knows?

Oh, right! Thanks for the clarification on Henry!

Well, we do know that Mr. Gold found Henry through some contact or another; Regina was pissed when she realized that the child she'd adopted was brought to her so deliberately back in the first couple episodes. Of course, that leads me to think that Regina still has no idea the lineage there - she's just perpetually annoyed with Emma because of Henry. Apparently, she doesn't realize that Emma is Snow & James' kid!

My guess is that Gold has a clause with Regina as part of that, "You have to grant me whatever I ask if I say 'Please'" business. Maybe that's how he had outside access?

The Ring of Doors was very "Nightmare Before Christmas." I approve.

That's exactly what I thought of, too. I approve!

Yes! Even knowing it was meant to be the Hall of Doors, my first thought was still NmBC.

Definitely thought of thought, even some of the background music reminded me of it this episode.

I want to see the Ring of Doors again so bad! Yes VERY nightmare before christmas.

I want to rewatch the episode just to make out and see which doors seem familiar. :) Any guesses? I know chloris said Oz. I didn't see it, unless it was the green door.

Did he actually say that he never left his house? I don't remember there being any mention that he was trapped in there.

4. I think he definitely was trapped in the house for 28 years, otherwise I think he would have tried some form of communication with his daughter, even if it was just "random nice neighbor dude." Plus it fits with the fact that he was cut off from FTL - here he was cut off from the rest of the FTL characters and Storybrooke in general. I think if he didn't remember everything, he wouldn't have even noticed the fact that he never leaves his house. Either that or maybe it manifested as agoraphobia instead of just being physically prevented from leaving?

7. I think Gold's house was a result of a rare miswording on his part. Because he wanted comfort and power, which I suppose he has, but didn't specify something like "and a house appropriate for my station" so Regina gave him something obnoxious instead. Then again, I can't imagine climbing all those steps with his limp is all that comfortable.

8. I don't know but I certainly hope it's her mother. I can't imagine anyone else they'd have a reason for putting that ridiculous veil on her for. If it was just a "we're not sure if we're reusing her again, so cover her up just in case we need a bigger actress," surely there should have been a better way of not showing her.

11. Personally I hope he's still in Storybrooke and just ran off before Emma looked for him. Hey, if the man can survive his head being cut off, I'm sure a little fall is nothing.

7. I don't think Gold cares all that much about big displays of wealth. Seems like that's not really his thing. Power, yes, but not wealth.

Can't Henry just show Emma 28 years of pictures where his mom, Paige, Ruby etc. don't age?

They all - except Emma, I think - have old cell phones, so that's a possibility!

Thank god, this is the first discussion i've read (not that I read many....) that indicates that Emma is actually considering the notion of "funny business" afoot.

All i've been reading is that it's getting old that she doesn't believe. To which I think to myself "if it was me... would I believe based on what she witnesses?" No!!! I would question the town's sanity yes! I would chalk it up to small little town quirks! But I definitely wouldn't jump to the conclusion that everyone is a fairy tale character trapped by the Major, who is really the Evil Queen. Come'on!

Also- Like any good story, it needs backstory, lots of set up. Lots of filler. You have to believe that fairy tale land EXISTS! :) I like the plot moving at the pace it is. Lots of time to sit and smell the fairy tales. :)

It wouldn't be much of an episode if it was just WAM BAM thank you ma'am type. YES THE WAITING IS EXCRUCIATING. But it just means it's an awesome show! :)

As for Jefferson.... if we don't see more of him I will be very disappointed! He is a fabulous character, and his story is so heartbreaking because it doesn't end with any sliver of happiness. Just like Belle. Those two are stuck in their painful ending. The Hatter--Jefferson more so. His daughter is now in our world, while he is.... god knows where.

I've been tossing around the notion that he might be actually just STUCK in the hat. No where to go. Just in there surrounded by the Ring of Doors.

I would love for them to bring Alice into the story. She would be great because Alice- like Emma, is from our world and she happens to stumble into Wonderland. She would be a great bridge between the two. Possibly an ally for Emma. Maybe she knows where the "rabbit hole" is. :)

1. I am extremely disappointed in MM as well. It isn't often that you're lucky to have been kidnapped and held hostage, but she is here.

2. I don't know how to take Gold and Regina apparently teaming up. Granted - I have been howling for more Evil!Gold but I'm not sure how this is supposed to play out yet.

3. I can't wait to find out how she got back first - also, it immediately struck me as strange that she was wearing her coat after escaping - small point - did she wear it in and it was in the coat closet? did she really think to grab it in her panicked escape? this just struck me oddly.

4. I imagine it was extremely odd for Henry growing up among people who never change. MM can't have been his teacher each year, he progressed while the children around him did not. How else would he be aware of the Curse? I sort of weirdly imaging hair cuts which don't actually cut any hair...

5. The mad hatter as cartographer/peeping tom is supremely creepy.

6. I'm imagining their claim that Emma doesn't believe for quite a while yet is based upon the as-yet-untouched corners of Storybrooke.

7. Mr. Gold doesn't really require much, I would imagine. Given he owns the town. I do appreciate the beautiful stained glass hues his front door throws.

8.(This episode is post-Huntsman since she seems to be consolidated in her power so we have two queens each with their own heart wall.) - YES! what the heck? How many evil queens are out there collecting hearts? As many as there are doors within the Hat's walls? - this is so totally creepy all around. I have no more specific guess as to the queen of hearts - just flailing at this whole sequence the show is giving us.

9. And who is Jefferson to Regina? He seemed very comfortable in her presence, getting very close to her and calling her by name. Family? Ex-lover? Both? (Yeah, they probably won't go there. *g*) - I was so totally creeped out by him lying to his daughter about knowing the queen - I know he's starting a new life, but - just but - he really needs to not have done that at all. Sigh. This aside, I really liked this character more than I was expecting to.

10. Was the ring of doors in the hat seriously cool or what? I know we saw a door for Oz so I'm expecting that land to show up at some point. What other lands could be behind those doors? Neverland? The Wind in the Willows? Gulliver's Travels? - They have to expand in order to keep this show alive. I am really hoping this is the way they go with it. Expand!

11. I agree the hat worked. I hope he went back to the Door Room - that seems the least traumatic. I imagine if he has any control over his actions - and he seems to have more awareness/control than any other SB character we've seen I'm going to go with it - he's sticking close to his daughter who is currently trapped in SB.

12. I really loved Emma coming face to face with a new person trying to get her to believe. Unfortunately it is coming from a character she has no choice but to doubt as he is intrinsically Mad. Grr. That's all right, anything which forces her to even think about it seems good to me! We have to ease her into it, after all.

1. With as innocent as MM has been since the beginning - the "top-button" type of girl - I'm seriously surprised she didn't just hold out the key to Emma and say, "Hey, look what I found." Then Emma would be REALLY curious as to why a key to her cell was IN her cell.

3. That's driving me crazy too! And if Emma did have time to drive her back, why wasn't her car there? To make Regina think that she'd won that round? I mean, I know the reveal was meant for the viewers, but it was weird. Ooo, oo, maybe she enlisted Gold's help? She did ask him for help to go against Regina, and he always makes everyone think he's helping them, even on both sides of every deal.

8. I was so looking forward to the Queen of Hearts yelling, "Off with his head!" that seeing her veiled and whispering was a letdown. I sincerely hope she turns out to be someone interesting after that.

11. I was thinking he went back to the fairytale world, but I like the idea that he went into the room with the doors. So many more possibilities there. :)

12. I think Emma's one step closer to believing, just like she was when Henry helped her figure out what Regina's creepy ring of keys was all about. You know she must be thinking, "WTF? What kind of town is this?"

2) I didn't expect was both of them - I cheered so hard. My absolute favorite moments in this series are when Carlyle and Parrilla are in scenes together. Every time Rumple and the Queen fight, I get excited because I know they're going to team up. And every time they team up, I get excited because I know they're going to fight. I could watch those two dance their lil'power play dance against each other all season long!

I'm also very, very much curious as to what the deal was. I'd say Rumple's relationship with SW is just as long term and complex (in differing ways) as it is with the Queen, so she must have offered something she feels would sway and keep him on her side, for as long as she needs him. I really, really want to know! Until then, I'm forced to assume she traded his services for a gift certificate to Home Depot and the name of a really good home decorator, because...

7) I agree. Yeah, he values power over extravagances and wealth but... when you have power, you sort of get those by default. Why not take it? It makes sense that the Queen would give him a sort of lame estate (she's awesome like that), but I'm curious as to why he didn't glare at her and move to a nicer place.

9) It didn't seem necessary at all, and a bit odd, that Jefferson was so (physically) close to the Queen and having not-quite-but-almost flirty mannerisms with her... But, it didn't ruin their character's chemistry (Jefferson didn't come off as sleazy or anything) so, I figure, if I had the opportunity to snuggle up with LP, I'd totally take it, too. :)

12) The ending made me twitch. IMO, they should have led up to the moment where Emma does a double take and asks Henry to borrow his book (like, throughout the season, her noticing, and slowly acknowledging, odd connections and finally just giving in and reading the book) as opposed to it coming out of left field like the audience is going to be shocked and surprised as opposed to saying "JFC, finally!"

He doesn't wear his wealth and power ostentatiously in SB though. When you see him taking inventory or repairing, there's that concentration and workmanship you see when he spins. idk, I can't see Gold having servants and marble pillars like I can the Queen. Rum is a diff matter too - I think Gold/Rum have the biggest diff between the two selves.

9) Thank god I'm not the only one who thought that! My first impression, when I saw her, was "How am I going to be able to pay attention to the scene when she's wearing that" Flawless LP is flawless. It was so hard not to be distracted!

But still 2 seasons til she believes? Ugh gunna drag

But still 2 seasons til she believes? - ...Seriously? (I'm cool with spoilers, so I don't mind. It's just a facepalm moment to hear that) I hope they play it out much better than they have been. Two years going on the same way she has been might end up with me thinking she's an oblivious and stupid char. I really, really don't want our HBIC to become that.
