I have my discussion questions here for this week's episode!

Not too much this week in the episode to move along the overall storyline but we did get some odd additions to the mythology of the show.

1. I know this has been asked before and will be asked again, but eggs? Really? Who lays them or do they appear by magic? And I guess if we're going for magically created eggs that hatch fully grown male dwarfs (and only male dwarfs) having them hatch with clothing already on isn't any weirder.

2. From what we see in this episode dwarfs are a slave race. They are created for the express purpose of making fairy dust and anything that distracts from the purpose has no place in their lives. (And considering the Grumpy is in jail later for continuing to show interest in Nova, I'd say not only has no place but is violently stamped out.) The fact they are happy being slaves doesn't change their place in society. It just keeps everyone else from feeling guilty about it. Is it just me or does fairytale land seems less and less pleasant the more we find out about it?

3. And the fairies - they seem to be in charge of this system with the Blue Fairy as HFIC. How benevolent and good are they? If Rumpelstiltskin is right about magic in general (as opposed to just his own deals), all magic has a price. Who is paying for fairy magic?

4. What does Gold have against the nuns? Or, let's put it this way, what does Rumpel have against the fairies? Perhaps something to do with his son? We still haven't found out what happens to him. Or maybe a simple rivalry/power struggle?

5. I'm completely over the town shunning Mary Margaret has been getting but, considering how pervasive it was (NO ONE would buy a candle from her), I'm beginning to wonder if we are supposed to see the hand of the curse involved here. The curse is most heavy on her and David so any indiscretions or attempts to find their own happiness would backfire on them most strongly.

6. Where was Henry this episode? I think it's the first time he has not made even a brief appearance. I have to say I rather missed him.

7. How adorable are Mary Margaret and Leroy together? I love the characters together in both worlds and knowing they would have scenes together again was half the reason I was looking forward to this episode.

8. So, Kathryn. Apparently she is missing but no one cares yet. I was expecting a little more time to be spent on that sub-plot but maybe next week? To be fair she only went missing the day before but considering the land speed record the town broke in passing about the Mary Margaret news, they seem a tad slow on the uptake about the whole missing thing.

9. And let's talk about that lie detecting ability. Why reference it in the same episode Emma gets lied to all over the place by Sidney? Can we hope that she has figured him out and is now letting him lie himself into corner? Or can they not remember how her ability works from one scene to the next?

My thoughts exactly!

-Great point! Reminds me of houseelves in the harry potter world.

8. >I was expecting a little more time to be spent on that sub-plot but maybe next week?<

What, you mean because the episode before totally set it up as a big cliffhanger and the original promo was pretty exclusively about it? Can't imagine where we got that idea. (Yeah, still just a tad bit bitter on how much Kathryn's disappearance ended up being, like, the C plot.) I have have to believe that nobody's been told about her disappearance yet, like maybe Regina was holding back that rumor until hating on MM died down. Otherwise, seriously guys, you hate MM for being a homewrecker and yet don't remotely care about the wife? That's some bizarre morality.

I'd like to think that Emma keeps mentioning to Sidney that she knows when people are lying to her because she KNOWS he is lying all over the place. Hell, she's probably known from the start. I'd like to think that means she's playing him, which means she's also playing Regina. Not sure in what way yet, of course, but I know Emma is no fool and Sidney was being creepily pushy about those phone records. Even I would have picked up on it, and I'm oblivious!

re: 8

my thoughts exactly. the promo from the end of 1x13 was all DRAMA KATHRYN IS MISSING AND WHODUNIT AND ANGST AND MYSTERY and then there was like thirty seconds total of that whole plot point.

Yeah, I was on this bandwagon as soon as the Evil Queen said, "Take him to my bedchamber." Horrified forever.

I laughed out loud about the eggs! So really the writers don't know were dwarfs come from either! With clothes, how convenient.

The original versions of fairy tales were not so pleasant as the ones we heard as children. I think the purpose was to prepare youths for the big, cold, scary world. I'm thinking these folks may be better off in Storybrooke.

I found Leroy and Mary Margret adorable together, sort of a mini buddy flick going on! LOL!
