Spoilers for "Red Handed"
Feb. 21st, 2012 05:43 pmEver since I heard that Ruby/Red would be getting her day in the sun for episode fifteen, I've been wondering a few things about the episode. And, this little bit from tvovermind.com, might just give me some more things to ponder.
On Once Upon a Time, Ruby/Red Riding Hood is one of those characters who has spent a lot of time on the fringe of the show. We see her waitressing in Granny's diner in Storybrooke and she finally hit the town with Mary Margaret and Ashley in the most recent episode. Over in fairytale land, she's only been seen twice: in the pilot and in a recent episode where it was revealed that she helped Snow White try to find a way to forget her love for Charming.
But in the March 11 episode of Once Upon a Time, her story will finally be revealed. In Storybrooke, Ruby is completely fed up with working at Granny's diner, so she quits. Depressed about her current lot in life, Ruby decides to accept an opportunity from Emma to act as her assistant at the sheriff's office. And Emma is determined to figure out what Ruby is good at to help her find a better career.
In the fairytale land, we'll learn that Red Riding Hood had a love story of her own. As it turns out, she is desperate to leave town and run away with her one true love. Unfortunately, she and the rest of the townspeople are terrified of a wolf that is on a killing spree and keeping them virtual prisoners in their home.
Those of you who read the spoilers for the March 4 episode of Once Upon a Time also know that something bad will be happening to David's wife Kathryn very soon. In the March 11 episode, Emma will continue to investigate Kathryn's disappearance and question David. David Anders returns as Dr. Whale in this episode as well.
Am I the only one wondering if Dr. Whale was the wolf or Red's true love in fairy tale land. Or - what if Red's true love is the wolf? Oh. . .looking forward to it.

Date: 2012-02-22 01:11 am (UTC)Unless 'assistant' means like, bringing coffee and donuts? But I don't see how that'd justify giving her a job there, Regina's so tight-fisted over the budget that getting Ruby a job has to be more serious than that, right?
IDK, I love the idea of these ladies sharing scenes, but the lack of logic...I'll be happy if I'm proven wrong, though.

Date: 2012-02-22 01:59 am (UTC)Could she even be an assistant? Does she have any skills for that kind of work? I'm sure they will mention it in the episode. I'm happy Ruby/Red is getting more screen time, but I hope there isn't major logic fail in how she gets her new job.
At least there will be two people at the station. I keep wondering why there is only one cop in town.

Date: 2012-02-22 02:31 am (UTC)I've been wondering if Whale had a Ruby connection from back when he was checking her out but having him in her episode does make it more likely!

Date: 2012-02-22 03:59 am (UTC)I believe Snow and Charming are around early to mid-20s. Doesn't Charming's mom say he's getting older and should marry? "Older" made me think mid-20s, because that's 'old' by fairy tale/historical standards.

Same here! Either they have a connection or Dr. Whale is creepy. I rather he not be a creepy guy.

Date: 2012-02-22 02:23 pm (UTC)Of course we haven't met the wolf in fairytale land yet either, I'm only going off of the traditional Red Riding Hood story. So who knows how they have mixed it up. I wonder what the twist will be...and how the Queen or Rumple is involved...
