Based on a bad dream I had last night, and spoilery for SKIN DEEP...and comments, if any, will probably contain spoilers as well.

I have the worst feeling about how Regina's keeping Belle captive in Storybrooke.

Nightmare scenario: Regina knows that Belle can get close to Gold. If he knew she's still alive, he could not help but want to get close to her again. Seeing as Belle is in a mental ward, and likely under the same "forgetful" curse as nearly everyone else, might Regina have brainwashed her? I have this terrible vision of Belle pretending to remember him, then being the one to pull out the Rumple!dagger and stabbing him with it.

Told you...nightmare scenario! I don't want anything else to happen to my beloved Rumple/Gold! I think he's been through enough already, & it's just been one season!

Seeing as he's likely the most popular character on the show, I am hoping the writers will show some mercy.

Do not want!! D:

My hope is that since the writers are Robert Carlyle fanboys (bless them) that they won't do anything too drastic with Rumpel/Gold. At least not until the show someday ends.

No way will they get rid of Gold. My gosh, he's practically the center of every storyline. The entire show would unravel. :-)

I don't think they will get rid of Rumple/Gold either.

Ack! I've neen having my own nightmares as well. I don't want Gold/Rumple to get killed (or spelled) off the show, and I don't really think it is likely, but I still worry.

I'm VERY curious as to what (if anything) Belle remembers. Is she really crazy? (I have this heartbreaking image of of an "empty" Belle being rescued by Gold and him just keeping her in his Maine house and taking care of her until the curse finally breaks :( Or is she locked up because she does remember, if not everything, at least a lot??

I'm worried because we know Belle shows up again, and soon (beginning of March I think?). While I would LOVE to see her become a regular, I'm afraid of what will happen to her if she doesn't (and I don't think that it is likely that she will.) If she's not killed off (please no!) I'm just not sure what the writers will do with her. Is she going to stay locked up and/or crazy? It just seems like she's too important to too pivatol a character for her to be happily out and about in Storybrook and yet only show up in one or two other episodes.

I am hoping that Gold finds out about her soon and I'm looking forward to seeing how he (hopefully) goes about a rescue!

While that's an interesting theory and certainly has dramatic merit, it's not one I want to see actually occur.

Much of the series is based around the characters of Rumple/Gold, and Robert Carlyle is also wildly popular (certainly to me!), so I think it highly unlikely that the writers would kill this character off. In my opinion, it would be akin to destroying the series.

Frankly, even when the series does eventually come to its conclusion, I want to see a happy ending for my very favorite character!

I must confess that I've been a Carlyle fan for a long time (long before OUAT), so my primary fascination in watching is to see Carlyle (that, and I adore dark faerie tales, so the series is quite a treat for me).

I have to agree. To me, this character seems really pivotal in ALL storylines, not just his own personal one. He is often the catalyst for someone else's thing...good or bad, he is there.

I think he has such a personality that you can't help but smile when he does that crazy giggle of his. They can't get rid of him, he's one of the reasons OUaT is so good!

i think EQ will let Gold know Bell is alive but only so she can use Bell to keep Gold in line. Gold is Emma's strongest ally against Regina, even if Emma doe not know it yet.
what i think will happen is EQ will say " if you ever want to see your Bell again stay out of my way."
Gold will be forced to do as EQ says, but then it can go one of two ways Emma will not know why Gold has suddenly left her and be pissed at him or Emma will know what is going on and free Bell.

I haven't seen the ep yet, so perhaps there's something I don't understand about their dynamic, but- couldn't Gold use the whole 'Regina must do what he wants when he says please'? I'm seeing all these gloom-and-doom predictions about Regina using Belle to keep him in line, but he's got all the power!

he does have more power yes , but sadly power like lots of other things is not all ways how much you have but how you use it and what you are willing to do with it. EQ has Bell in her power right now and as of yet we have no idea what has been done to Bell.
now i only know what i would do if i were in EQ's place and that is to cast a spell on Bell that she would fear Rumple/Gold when she sees him, or worse.but that is just me.

my opinion:

She's going to be killed because Regina sees her as too much of a liability, but not before Rumple figures out that she's alive and Regina/EQ hid her away and made up the whole story so that he would hate her family.

Then, because of that Rumple's full wrath unleashes on Regina and her world starts to crumble.

Of course this all might take a long time, but since they are both evil but one is True Evil (EQ) and one is more neutral (rumple). Rumple will end up siding with the townsfolk and it will bring her down.

At least in my own little world this happens because as much of a badass EQ is, she is SUCH A BITCH! lol

I also don't think Rumple is evil, true he does things that are bad, but i think he does those things because he feels that is the way powerful men act. remember the noble of the land where Rumple lived as a human with his son, the man was willing to send kids to fight for him instead of finding some other way to deal with the ogres. after all he had the first Dark One working for him, the noble could have had his Dark One handle things , but he would rather sacrifice children to the ogres instead.
i think the man Rumple was is still deep with in him. i think that when things come right down to it Rumple will do what he feels he has to do in order to see that Emma wins.

No way this is going to happen! And not just because I REALLY don't want it to be true *g* Rumpel is just too central to the main plots and I doubt they brought him on board to kill him off in the first season. Without Rumpel versus Regina the whole show is unbalanced. And if you have Robert Carlyle playing an awesomely ambiguous character you keep him around.
