The call had come late at night, Henry hysterical but doing his best to keep his voice low, as if scared to be over heard. Driving fast Emma made it to the Mayor’s house in record time. Making her way to the back door, it was unlocked as Henry said it would be.
The sound of a fist hitting flesh and Regina whimpering caused Emma to see red. In the living room a strange man stood over the dark woman. His handsome face was a mask of anger.
“Look at what you made me do, you bitch. You got blood on my shirt. Look at it.”
“If you don’t get the fuck out of my town right now, you’re going to have a lot more blood on that cheap rag, and this time it will be all yours.”
The man turned saw Emma and grinned, but the grin only lasted until Emma’s fist whipped it from his face. Emma’s rage made her stronger and faster. The man’s arrogance was soon replaced by fear, fear of a woman who was not frightened of him, a woman who refused to lay down and beg him not to hurt her.
Within minutes Emma had him handcuffed and in the back of the police car. A quick call to the state police had them on the way to pick the man up. A call to Archie and Dr. Wale got Regina and Henry the help they needed.
Mr. Gold showed up, held his silver flask to Emma. “Here, you need this. I applaud what you did in there to that scum, so will the rest of the town. Things like that happen but not to the people here and not at the hands of outsiders. You are one of us now.”
