This gave us the origin of Prince Charming.

From the ABC press release at the time

David - aka John Doe - must choose between staying with Kathryn or leaving her to be with Mary Margaret, with whom he's fallen deeply, and inexplicably, in love; and Emma catches Sheriff Graham in a lie. Meanwhile, back in the fairytale world that was, Prince Charming is about to encounter a life-changing event that will forever alter his destiny.

So onto the questions

1. Did you see this live or was it later?

2.What do you remember most about the episode?

3.Did you find anything surprising when you rewatched it? Like “Oh that’s where they set that up” or “I had forgotten that ______ happened here”

4. This is the beginning of the David and Mary Margaret love story and the first time that the curse was showing how far it could be pushed. Did you think that they played fair with it or turned it into a soap opera?

5. Where you surprised when Prince James died?

6. Where you surprised that Rumplestilskin had a back up plan?

7. Do you think Regina made a deal with Rumple to make sure that David saw the windmill in his shop and “regain” his memories?

8.What did you think of Emma’s reaction to finding out that Graham was sleeping with Regina?

9. How hard do you think it is for the actors to remember what they are suppose to know or not know at one point in the script?

I saw it later – I binge-watched the first season.

2.What do you remember most about the episode?
It that the the episode with Rumple being all gleeful of James' grieving father? I remember that, and Rumple's other scenes the most. They were so lovely.

Rumple doesn't use that wand until season two, right? So clearly it's not something he specifically needed. And he probably would have unearthed Charming for free to, if it came down to it...

I'm probably in the minority with this, but I loved the trainwreck that was the David/Mary Margaret love story. I couldn't take it very seriously (mostly I couldn't take David seriously – I miss the guy!), but I saw that as a plus.
One other thing I loved was Emma's attitude to the whole thing, and the way she views David; she gives good advice, she does; I'm sad her and Mary Margaret's relationship is something we're not really going to see again, ever; I liked their friendship in this episode especially.

5. Were you surprised when Prince James died?
Yes! I'd been spoiled about some things, but not about the twin brother so that was a pretty huge surprise

6. Where you surprised that Rumplestilskin had a back up plan?
I don't remember having any expectations of Rumple one way or the other at the time; so I don't think I was surprised; it might have been the episode that firmly established his far reaching scheming for me?

7. Do you think Regina made a deal with Rumple to make sure that David saw the windmill in his shop and “regain” his memories?
I don't think so, because this is before Regina makes Rumple admit he remembers. But I don't see why Rumple would have any preference at this time for which way Davids goes, and the windmill was convenient, so, maybe?

8.What did you think of Emma’s reaction to finding out that Graham was sleeping with Regina?
I don't remember. Poor Graham.

I remember chuckling at Charming's wig as the shepherd. And thinking that the lady playing his mom was great!

When I see that Charming wasn't really a prince, it always makes me wonder where he gets off acting like the "kingdom is his." :p

I always thought their love affair was cute, in a sad way, given the curse. When he grabbed her hand while she read him the story! ♥

OMG, yes. I thought, "Holy crap, what is happening?!"

6. Where you surprised that Rumplestilskin had a back up plan?
LOL, no. Rumple seems to always have a plan. Makes sense with season 3 in mind and the Seer who gave him the power to see backward and forward though.

7. Do you think Regina made a deal with Rumple to make sure that David saw the windmill in his shop and “regain” his memories?
I don't think so... but I'm sure she sent David in that direction because of the windmill. The rest just fell into place for her because she knew David would be lost.

8. What did you think of Emma’s reaction to finding out that Graham was sleeping with Regina?
Watching it with SQ in mind (to see if it seemed to be a deliberate idea or not), I decided to interpret it that she was grossed out that Regina was into Graham. LOL

9. How hard do you think it is for the actors to remember what they are suppose to know or not know at one point in the script?
I know Lana has said she keeps a huge notebook with her own timeline so she can keep it straight! I couldn't imagine playing Rumple and keeping it all straight since his story seems to span centuries.
