Episode Discussion 2x08: Into the Deep

Cora does everything in her power to steal the compass away from Mary Margaret and Emma in her quest to find the entrance to Storybrooke. Meanwhile, in order to protect Henry from further danger, Regina and Mr. Gold must put David’s life in jeopardy in an attempt to put him in contact with Mary Margaret across the lands to give her vital information that could help her and Emma return through the portal back to Storybrooke.

Well, I gotta hand it to OuaT. They've found a way to subvert the new "princesses all have to be buttkicking badasses" trope. "Oh yeah, princess, you're going back to sleep." :-)

Well, I was pretty floored. Gotta hand it to Hook, he does have a way with the ladies. I thought he was doing a good deed by setting Aurora free..... now I feel like I've been cheated on. lol

I officially hate Cora (more than ever) and Hook. But at least I have people to hate. Seems like Rumple and Regina have found good in them in Storybrooke. I wonder if/when the series settles, Rumple and Regina will simply start new lives there where they can forget the thirst for power & magic.

I gotta say OUAT is about to leave us with a GIGANTIC cliffhanger for the Winter Finale! Does anyone predict if Snow and Emma will come back? Will Charming survive the sleeping curse in Storybrooke (Well obviously he doesn't die, he's a main character!)

What Cora did with Aurora, makes me wonder if that's what she did with Lancelot.

And what about this Philip's soul business. Will he return? Do you think that Aurora will mention it to Mulan (who i'm also a bit irked at)?

Wow. Hook is a sneak bastard, I'm rooting on Team!Princess to kick their asses for the winter finale. Two questions were brought up that caught my attention. 1) Is Charming going to be saved? 2) Will Phillip come back? Is he in Storybrook?

The whole Phillip business caught me off guard. There's a possibility he may come back, or already be in another world, according to Cora there's a chance. I wonder if it was even true to begin with.

Gosh, poor Aurora. I wonder if they're going to kill her off. :( That would be sad, I was really warming up to her!
I gotta admit, my Captain Swan feels were hurt, but I'll enjoy the sword fighting next episode for sure!

After Snow frees Charming from the sleeping curse, she is so kicking his ass for pulling such a stunt.

Hook is so slippery as a character. Given that Rumple and Regina are moderating themselves it is nice to just have a villain that cannot be predicted episode to episode.

I don't think the Swan Hook ship really is battered. Hook is playing all sides like our good old Rumble used to.

I loved the Regina and Rumple dialogue as well. And Regina and Henry...

Charming and Snow in the dream room was great angst. Also enjoyed the flip in roles between Emma and Snow afterwards. Emma is SO strong when she need to be.

A little tired of Mulans infinite knowledge of everything and her bag of always useful stuff. While it was good to see her crack a bit I think she needs a bit more development or she starts to become a bit too flat as a character.

Snow White and Emma have become unrealistic . . . even for this show. I find it soooo hard to believe that an ex-thief and tracker like Snow and a bail bondsman like Emma can out fight a trained warrior like Mulan? Especially Snow White? Really? It was the one unpalatable thing about an episode I enjoyed very much.

I liked the episode, hated that they took Aurora's heart. That really pissed me off.

Also the episode went so quick at the last minute of the episode I went "wait, that's it?" and had to look at the clock.

I am so disappointed they have to have a Winter Break soon, I hate waiting! Especially considering how the next episode looks like it will end. Darn breaks.

This episode made me gasp a couple times... as Hook was double-crossing the double-crossed AND when it was clear that he'd taken Aurora's heart. :o

Really liked the episode.

Hook become a badass. I didn't see that coming. It was pretty obvious since the first promo of the season that he was on the evil side but I was hoping he started his career alone to go to Storybrook. Just surprised me! Anyway, I loved it and I think he has a loooooot of potential. Can't wait to see him in Neverland. More now that we know there are mermaids.

Cora. Maybe is the only think that can put together Regina and Rumple so I can't even imagine how bad she is. It has been cleared scriptwriters have opened another plot (yeah, another one) about her story and everything that happened before Evil Queen Regina. Maybe she's the reason why Rumple wanted to make Regina an evil one. Who knows? What i'm certainly sure is she is Queen of Hearts from Wonderland. No doubt. It leads us to Mad Hatter and his real story.

Pricesess were awesome as ever. I enjoyed how Mulan and Aurora tried to protect each other and Aurora being strong while she was in the cell. I've changed my mind on her. Philip can be saved, another line for the end of hiatus.

Charming, otherwise, was as ever, the god guy doing stupid things. I understand him, really, but I can't take him seriously. C'mon! Henry gave him the necklace and 5 minutes later he'd broken it. lol. He's such a dumb! But still I love him! Snow will save him with true's love kiss and it will be a wonderful parallelism.

Hate that there's only one chapter left.
And for God's sake! Where is August and what is going on with him!

Philip was a total nonsurprise to me. I've been expecting that from the beginning, the only issue for me is covering his body not decaying as it is tad different from sleeping curse.

Graham I've expected to see in flashbacks too. I don't expect him to be aliveu real time, unless I missed something shocks me how many leapt there. However if the whole dead in SB means returned to FTL at least that means I get Malevolent!

Very good episode in that getting back to the mains, more set up for the probably better episodes next week and post hiatus. I liked Henry and Regina getting time together. However if thsts all the mention Daniel gets- wondering if Henry REALLY knows who he is I'll be ticked. Complexity is only so good as the full circle follow through imo, and that doesnt come close (same to Emmas non reaction to Snows blame).

Nope. You didn't miss anything. They didn't show it. While I like the plot point, I'm leaning towards calling shenanigans on it.

I still think this is going to lead to a triple-cross. Meaning in flashback we'll see he and Aurora worked together on this and we'll all realize Aurora is a lot more than most are giving her credit for.

Of course what might be crazier is if the triple-cross becomes a quadruple cross (i.e., working with someone outside this dimension - particularly if Cora is Red Queen, then someone like JEfferson).

I believe it to be possible... if anything because the pedigree of writers is pretty high on this show. *Crosses fingers*
