The first one is a soundtrack of Uptown Girls (Brittany Murphy's movie with Dakota Fanning) and I vaguely remember the director saying in a very old interview that they wanted to show New York in a (modern) fairy tale kind of way, visually. Anyway, glad you liked them. That's what I thought of the second, too!
