The opening scene of the episode "Souls of the Departed" with Neal was not filmed during the original filming schedule of the episode, which occurred in November 2015. Instead, Michael Raymond-James filmed his scene indoors on a soundstage three months later in January 2016. The actor went through great lengths to keep his return a secret.
