Season 4 to be split

After splitting its season in two, and taking a lengthy hiatus between halves, ABC will again present Once Upon a Time in two half seasons: from September to December, and March through May. During the hiatus, ABC will air Galavant, a new musical comedy series set in medieval times–a sort of Camelot meets Princess Bride, according to the network. I would, on first glance, better describe it as a live-action Disney animated feature, complete with Alan Menken score. src

I think this is a better plan. As much as hiatus' are annoying, having two or more weeks between episodes is more frustrating. Dividing seasons into two halves makes more sense. I'm surprised networks don't do it more because I'd think they'd be less likely to lose viewers.

I like that their doing this again. I thought it worked well this year.

ABC is going to be doing it with Agents of SHIELD next season two, and I'm happy about that too. While the long hiatus is sad, it's worse with too many breaks, you loose too much momentum in the story I think.

Have you seen the Galavant trailer? It looks totally crazy and potentially fun...

Looks like it could be fun. I'm loving all the geeky shows that will be on next year. Hopefully they'll all be good. I don't really have time for a new show, but if its good I'll make the time.

Thinking of it in terms of them condensing the two halves and not leaving us with every couple of week lags... yeah, you're right. At first, I felt annoyed - now I don't!

Plus, the break is at Christmastime when there are usually other things to watch, people to see, and generally most people watch less TV. Frankly I find the summer hiatus more frustrating.

I was wondering earlier today if they'd split the season again like they did for season three. Great to see they'll be doing that.

Such a long wait for Galavant though. But it looks fantastic, so I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.
