i know i'm probably in the minority of the group wanting a month, but due t my health it's not uncommon for me to be in and out of hospital or not know what year it is! i would appreciate a month (or entire season if others prefer) so i can catch up and still be able to watch the comm

tbh I think a month is pretty sufficient - there are ways that spoilers can be hidden, even if they're in the same entry as a post that isn't completely a spoiler. They can be tagged, big letters can be at the beginning of the post, the parts of the entry containing the spoiler can be under an lj-cut, etc.

Like I said, I just feel there are ways that they can be taken care of.

Ooh, a header contest would be awesome! I would most certainly participate.

As re spoilers, could we also clarify what counts as spoilers? Obvious ones are obvious, but I've sometimes been burned by things like icons above the cut with guest actors/situations that kinds... give things away ;\ (Not here, that I remember, but best to be overprepared, eh? ;) )

I marked a week, but I honestly have no problem with marking spoilers forever and ever if it's so decided. I personally don't care about spoilers (and when I do, I just avoid the internet), but I know that not everyone is in the same position/way of thinking.

I'd definitely be interested in a header contest!

In every other fandom community I've run, a week is pretty much what the length has been for spoilers.

I can install layouts fairly well, and something like what I use at my personal journal (makeyourmoment) allows you to have any size banner, plus I can customize colors I believe to match the header. The one I have for the journal I'm posting with was also customizable for the header I used. fruitstyle is really a good place for layouts, and they have instructions for every one.

In the comms I mod/have modded, having a consistent tagging system was really important. So that might be something to have one of the mods "in charge" of (or I may just be a little obsessed with tagging... totally possibly).

Also, in choosing a co-mod, a good thing to do is find someone who's been around LJ who seems to have a fairly active LJ (if it's FO you guess by how many entries they have compared to when they created their journal). I have a few comms that I mod with people who swore they were online a lot, and have been total ghosts as mods and it can be super stressful. With as much traffic as this comm has, you'll probably want a mod you know will stick around. :)

I think a week is good. IMO that gives enough time to people who can't watch right away. I also think there needs to be rules on what a spoiler is. I've seen it vary from comm to comm.
