Songs of Storybrooke (A FauxFanMix)

This is my second fauxfanmix to share with you all. These are the songs that remind and sometimes inspire my own works. I hope you enjoy it!

The Songs of Storybrooke
This mix is a diverse mix of music, the videos are pretty PG (I had to choose another video for some due to content...yes I'm looking at you 30 seconds to Mars!) but I digress and I hope you give them all a shot!

One Track Minded Age
by Broken Iris

People were people
So their nightmares came through
Now our world is full of the nightmares left from you
Your screams were loud
But now you're sound
Asleep, for I helped guide you down.
Ages and numbers
Pass all of us by
With empty hands extended
Never satisfied
Down from the throne that you're all on
Welcome to the one track minded age
Welcome to the one track minded

If there was a theme to OUAT, I think this one (and the next two songs) would be the perfect fit. This song is a bit dramatic but very wonderful.

Wishing on a Star
by Miriam Stockley

I’m wishing on a star
To follow where you are
I’m wishing on a dream
To follow what it means
And I wish on the rainbows
That I see
I wish on all the people
Who really dream
I’m wishing on a star
To follow where you are

This song is the intro for the stunning mini-series The 10th Kingdom, the video chosen was the opening to T10K because it fits OUAT so perfectly and hell! It won an award!!

Let Me Go Back
by Loni Rose

If you believe
In make believe
Fairy tales and destiny
There are places no one’s found
Places no one’s been
And I believe
It will take your breath away
You won’t believe your eyes…
Let me go back to my world
I want to go back to my world
Let me go back
Mirror mirror on the wall
Tell me am I in a dream
Is this really happening to me...

As some of you have seen, I use this song on my art work all the time. It was used in the trailers for The 10th Kingdom but was NOT included on the soundtrack. I did manage to find it years ago and when I hear it, I just sigh in content. I did have a 10K music video to it but have long since deleted my YT channel.

Wait
by Earshot

Something’s wrong
Trying to conquer these fears
I thought were gone
And it’s been so long
I’m dying to live in a world
I don’t belong
I can’t wait for someone to hear me
And wait for someone to touch me
And wait forever to be told
I’m forever alone

They've been trapped in Storybrooke for 28 years, wouldn't you feel this way? Most of them have been damned away from their loved ones and happy endings. This is also one of my favorite music videos of all time due to the simplicity and the passion of the song.

Prelude 12/21
by AFI

This is what I brought you
This you can keep
This is what I brought
You may forget me
I promise to depart
Just promise one thing
Kiss my eyes and lay me to sleep

Due to sleeping curses and comas I believe this song is fitting. Besides that, the song itself just gives off a dark, mystical vibe...

A Favor House Atlantic
by Coheed and Cambria

Your eyes tell the stories
Of a day you wish you could
Recall the moments that once have
Retract the footsteps
That brought us to this favor
I wouldn’t ask this of you…

One of the bounciest songs I've ever heard, considering its a rock song, those lyrics fit perfect with the citizens of Storybrooke once again.

Run the World (Girls)
by Beyonce (Glee Cast Cover)

Boy I know you love it
How we’re smart enough to make these millons
Strong enough the bear the children
Then get back to business…
My persuasion can build a nation
Endless power our love we can devour
You’ll do anything for me
Who run the world? Girls

I chose the Glee Cast cover of this song because I cannot stand Beyonce. Apologize if you take offence. But to my point, our good and evil sides are headed by women, pretty much every woman in show is just as powerful, if not more than the males. Strong, beautiful and ready to War, how awesome are these ladies?

Hurricane
by 30 Seconds to Mars

As days go by, the nights on fire
Tell me would you kill
To save a life?
Tell me would you kill
To prove you’re right?
Crash, crash, burn
Let it all burn
This hurricane’s chasing us all underground
No matter how many deaths that I die
I will never forget
No matter how many lives that I live
I will never regret

Had to go to the lyric video for this due to the first one being 13 minutes long, full of BDSM things and was just a bit racy (since this will be crossposted). I felt these lyrics were strong enough to fit the situation going down especially the eternal love of Snow and James...

**BONUS TRACKS**
I chose these songs to fit certain characters that won't get a fanmix from me, but felt they were still fitting Storybrooke as well.

(Regina)
Save Me
by Nikki Minaj

It’s not your fault I’m a bitch, I’m a monster
Yes I’m a beast and I feast when I conquer
But I’m all alone on my throne…

This song is just epic, love or hate Nikki, this song struck me (and was EPIC in concert) when I heard it and after OUAT came out, these lines spoke to me about Regina. I feel it suits our Queen...

(Rumpelstiltskin)
Monster You Made
by Pop Evil

Erase this monster I've become
Forgive me for all the damage done
It's not over
Say it's not over
I'm begging for mercy
I'm only the monster you made me
I'm better alone now
See I'm torn from my mistakes
And I stop believing that I could ever make things change
How much can I take
When I know that it hurts you
How long can I wait
When I cant go on like this anymore
Because who I am
Isn't who I used to be
And I'm not invincible
I'm not indestructible
I'm only human
Can't you see
The beauty in me

When I first heard this song I immediately thought of Rumpelstiltskin and as now cannonly proven, we see he has always been this broken, fragile man who just tried to do what was right and ended up damning himself in the process. He lost everything and is all alone...

(EMMA)
To Myself I Turned
by Lacuna Coil

I was born in another world
Strictly connected to a piece of my mind
Nothing more than a little land
It is a small cradle where I'm a kid
I am the princess in there
Nothing wrong in my fantasy world
These spotlights are here again
I can't see anything, I'm blind
This nature of time and space
Makes me sick of the situation

While listening to another Lacuna Coil song (Cold Heritage) I remembered this song and went...Emma?! So I felt I should share with you all as well.

(HENRY)
Shoots and Ladders
by KoRn

Nursery rhymes are said, verses in my head
Into my childhood they’re spoon fed
Hidden violence revealed, darkness that seems real
Look at the pages that cause all this evil

Though the song is more focused on nursery rhymes (listen to it. It opens with bag pipes and Jon belts out all our favorites), these words speak volumes. While he read the book, Henry decided that his Stepmother who had tried to love him for all his life is The Evil Queen. The darkness of the story is quickly crossing into Henry's life. The little one opened a can of worms I doubt he's ready for...
